Hours after Odd Future's Tyler, the Creator was attached to pop singer Justin Bieber's reckless driving case, the West Coast rapper has stepped up to confess his involvement.
While it is not clear if Tyler was merely joking, he did give himself up as the culprit responsible for Bieber making negative headlines this week.
“That Was Me Behind The Wheel Of Justins Vehicle. Don’t Blame Him. People Are Actually Evil Swearing Up And Down That It Was Who It Wasnt.,” he tweeted June 1st. (Tyler, the Creator’s Twitter)
Earlier in the day, reports surfaced online which connected Tyler to the reckless driving accusations.
Justin Bieber’s security people have told cops … they have video showing that Tyler, the Creator — NOT JUSTIN — was behind the wheel at the time the car was being recklessly driven on Memorial Day … this according to law enforcement sources. Here’s the problem — if Justin really was the one who was recklessly driving, the security people could be part of a conspiracy to hang Tyler out to dry. TMZ posted video of Keyshawn Johnson Friday … in which Keyshawn says he saw Justin behind the wheel of his Ferrari in the driveway of his gated community. We’re told 3 other witnesses also saw Justin behind the wheel. (TMZ)
Bieber had stood behind his claim of not being responsible for what went down.
Keyshawn tells TMZ … when he confronted Justin in his garage … Justin said he wasn’t driving during the wild ride and got into the driver’s seat in the driveway to park the car into the garage — which is a tricky maneuver in a low-riding vehicle. As for the video … law enforcement sources say it has not been turned over to cops — at least not yet. (TMZ)
The driving accusations turned into a hot story earlier in the week.
Tuesday, May 28, 2013: Police visit the singer’s home in response to calls complaining about his alleged reckless driving within the gated community. Wednesday, May 29, 2013: E! News reveals that Bieber’s neighbor NFL star Keyshawn Johnson confronted the singer during his speedy driving incident days prior and had originally placed a call to the cops. Wednesday, May 29, 2013: Despite being under the spotlight for his driving, the “Beauty and a Beat” singer took some time to post a reflective selfie on his Instagram account with the caption reading, “My vision is enormous.” (E! A couple years ago, Tyler talked about his admiration for the Biebs.
“I met Justin back in February. He’s a cool kid and sh–,” Tyler told MTV News. “When I got in there, he was talkin’ about the ‘Yonkers’ video and sh–. It was weird, because I was sitting here starstruck, like, ‘Oh, f—, it’s Bieber. He’s asking me questions.’ I’m like, ‘Shut the f— up so ‘I’ can talk to ‘you’.’ … I just want to make ’90s R&B, like break beats, hard drums with pretty chords and sh–,” Tyler said of the type of track he’d make for Justin. “I really want to do that. Like, I be listening to Brandy or the first three Mary J. [Blige] albums and sh– and Faith [Evans] and Zhané and sh–. That sh– is awesome.” (MTV)
