Although his lawyer is working to get Tip out early, he is currently finishing out the time in a Georgia prison.

The lawyer for rapper T.I. said Friday that he’s working to have the Grammy winner returned to a halfway house after a transportation flap left him locked up again in a federal penitentiary. The Federal Bureau of Prisons website Friday shows that the rapper is at the Atlanta penitentiary with a release date of Sept. 29. (The Associated Press)

A few days ago, the rapper’s wife, Tiny, came forward and addressed her husband’s current predicament.

T.I.’s wife tells TMZ … multiple prison officials actually saw the tour bus that picked up the rapper yesterday — and even took photos with T.I. in front of it — and NOBODY raised an issue. Tameka “Tiny” Cottle tells us … when the tour bus rolled up to the Arkansas prison yesterday, prison officials “Walked him over, took pics and told him good luck in life.” Tiny says, “This is a bunch of bulls**t … they should have said something before he got on the bus … T.I. would have politely gotten into a van.” She adds, “T.I. is one of the strongest individuals I know … and they just trying to break him in more ways than one and it’s not gonna work! ‘Cause what God got for him, can’t no man take that away … period!” (TMZ)

Reports of Tip getting placed under federal custody landed online last Friday (September 2).

Grammy-winning rapper T.I., who was freed after months in prison, was back in federal custody Thursday because of a flap over his use of a luxury bus to report to a halfway house, his lawyer said. Steve Sadow told The Associated Press that the Federal Bureau of Prisons “has moved T.I. to a different facility” because of an issue involving the rapper’s 375-mile trip Wednesday from the Arkansas lockup to Atlanta in a gleaming motor coach. He did not elaborate on the exact nature of the problem federal authorities had, but said it was not drug-related. He said they are trying to resolve the problem. T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, traveled with an entourage to check into the halfway house, stepping off the bus clad in a red and blue striped polo shirt and white shirts. “There appears to be confusion surrounding the method of transportation,” Sadow said. The rapper was officially released from an Arkansas jail facility on Wednesday (August 31).

Atlanta-based rapper T.I. has been released one month early from a federal prison, where he was serving a weapons violation sentence. Bureau of Prisons spokesman Chris Burke said the artist, whose real name is Clifford Harris, was released at 7:29 a.m. Central time from the Forrest City low-security prison in Arkansas. (ABC News)
