Former Death Row Records owner Marion “Suge” Knight was reportedly taken in by police last night (December 3) in California on an arrest warrant dating back to mid-November.
According to reports, Knight was spotted around a Los Angeles restaurant Friday evening.
Authorities say rap mogul Marion “Suge” Knight was arrested on an outstanding traffic warrant as he left a restaurant near Universal Studios outside Los Angeles. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Shawn Ruda says Knight was released about an hour after his arrest early Saturday. Ruda tells the Los Angeles Times that Knight was stopped by deputies, who ran his name through computers and discovered he was wanted on a minor traffic warrant issued recently in Beverly Hills. Knight did not spend the night behind bars, however, he was issued a citation.
At the time, the co-founder of Death Row Records had a warrant issued for him because he hadn’t showed up in court. Knight consented to go with police to the sheriff’s department’s West Hollywood station, Ruda said. There, the 45-year-old was booked and issued a citation to appear in court again on the traffic violation. The whole process took about an hour, according to Ruda. The sheriff’s department did not elaborate on the nature of the traffic violation. (CNN)
Details on Knight’s warrant made headlines this weekend.
There’s another warrant out for Suge Knight’s arrest — which probably doesn’t surprise you … or him. According to documents obtained by TMZ, a $40,000 bench warrant was issued for Suge’s arrest on November 23 after he failed to show up to court in L.A. to deal with two traffic tickets. The docs show Suge was popped for driving with a suspended license and running a stop sign on September 23. (TMZ)
Last July, Knight was issued an arrest warrant for missing a court appearance after being taken down by cops on a suspended license charge two months prior.
Knight, whose real name is Marion Hugh Knight, was detained in Gardena around 1:30 a.m. Thursday. Nearly a half-dozen officers surrounded Knight’s white Cadillac Escalade in the area of Crenshaw Blvd. and 147th Street. He was then placed in handcuffs and taken into custody. It was not immediately known why Knight was detained. He was reportedly being held at the LAPD’s Southwest Divison. (CT Now)
