UPDATE: Lil Wayne’s “Dedication 5″ Misses Release, Suffers Setback

After releasing a minute-long teaser and cover art for the new Dedication V mixtape, Young Money leader Lil Wayne has decided to hold off on rushing the project out despite a slated 5 PM EST premiere time.

According to reports, Wayne’s need to make some last-minute changes forced the project to miss its scheduled release.

You’ll have to wait a lil’ longer for Lil Wayne’s new mixtape. The Young Money chief has postponed the release of Dedication 5. The DJ Drama-hosted project was set to drop at 5 p.m. EST today, but has been delayed to an unspecified time. The announcement was made on YoungMoney.com. “The release of Dedication 5 has been temporarily postponed for a short period while Wayne puts finishing touches on it – including another new song. Stay tuned for an update,” read the message. However, Young Money president Mack Maine said the wait would not be too long. “Delayed for a few hours not days and weeks,” he tweeted. (Rap-Up)

Earlier this summer, DJ Drama revealed the latest Dedication release will go back to its origins.

“Me and Wayne working. [The mixtape may be dropping] sooner than people think, so I’m just gonna say be patient,” Drama said in an interview. “[Have we started recording?] Yeah, absolutely. Definitely. It’s beats, rhymes and life. A Tribe Called Wayne. It’s mostly freestyles, you know. That’s what Dedication is known for. But we’re also going to get the skits back. So we’re definitely going to get some of that entertainment value of Wayne talking how he talks, like how he did with Dedication 1, 2 and 3. … That man is a monster when it comes to work. So he gets it all done.” (VIBE)
