Jay-Z‘s first street single “D.O.A (Death of Autotune)” from The Blueprint 3 has officially hit the airwaves courtesy of New York urban radio station Hot 97.
Radio personality Funkmaster Flex announced the “world premiere” shortly after 9 p.m. Friday (June 5) night before debuting the record.
“Good-byyyyeeee,” Jay raps in the chorus. “Only rapper to re-write history without a pen/No I.D. on the track let the story begin, begin, begin/This is anti-autotune/Death of the ringtone/This ain’t for iTunes/This ain’t for sing-a-longs/This is [Frank] Sinatra at the opera/Bring a blonde, preferably with a fat a** who can sing a song/Wrong, this ain’t politically correct/This might offend my political connects/My raps don’t have melodies…May get your chain token/May do it myself, I’m so Brooklyn/I know we facin’ a recession, but the music y’all makin’ gon’ make it the Great Depression/Or your lack of aggression/Pull your skirt back down…This ain’t a No. 1 record/This is practically assault with a deadly weapon/I made this just for Flex and Mister Cee, I want people to feel threatened.” (Hot 97)
While the station initially did not announce what time, online reports claimed the single would air in the evening.
So around 9 pm tonight EST, Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex will play the world premiere of Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 single, “D.O.A.” That stands for Death of Autotune as Kanye [West] teased on MTV awhile back. The song was produced by No ID and Mr. West. On Sunday, it will be sent to the masses. (Rap Radar)
Despite past tracks like “Jockin’ Jay-Z,” the single is being labeled as Blueprint 3‘s first release and was also rumored to drop on Sunday (June 7).
“First single off the new Jay-Z Blueprint 3 album coming Sunday,” DJ Skee wrote unmodified on Friday. “D.O.A. is the street track…Oh…the official OFFICIAL Jay radio single will be called ‘Off That’ and feature Drake…..Coming July…Last thing about Jay, Blueprint 3 release date IS 9/11. Same day as original Blueprint in 2001. RocNation. Atlantic hired for marketing. Sunday! (DJ Skee’s Twitter Page)
