A few days after releasing a statement announcing her return to the stage, Janet Jackson unexpectedly missed her “Rock Witchu” comeback show over the weekend due to a doctor’s decision.
As previously reported by SOHH‘s Soulful blog, the R&B superstar’s highly anticipated tour revival was scheduled to occur on Saturday (October 11) in Connecticut, when Live Nation promoters told Access Hollywood the 42 year-old singer would return after a two week hiatus due to illness. However, a last minute decision delayed her tour appearance once again.
“Janet Jackson’s anticipated return to her Rock Witchu tour in Uncasville, CT, has been postponed due to doctor’s orders,” a Live Nation rep told Access Hollywood in a statement.
Despite the cancellation, the rep promised all purchased tickets would be honored at a rescheduled date that has yet to be determined.
According to the Associated Press, Jackson had become “suddenly ill” lat last month while rehearsing for a performance in Canada and was hospitalized. Exactly one week ago, she was forced to cancel more concert dates because a doctor claimed it was “evident” she had not fully recovered at the time of the shows.
Jackson has reportedly been cleared and will continue her tour tonight, October 13 in Verona, New York.
The “Rock Witchu” tour marks her first time on the road in seven years.
