While Gucci Mane remains incarcerated, he is set to become a free man sometime this week.

Amid erroneous reports that beleaguered southern rap star Gucci Mane has been freed from prison this holiday weekend, records show that the rapper is still behind bars although he will be released later this week. (Rapfix)

Details of his alleged release hit the Internet (July 2) morning.

Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane is believed to have been released from prison today. Gucci had been in prison since pushing a woman out of a moving vehicle in April, and was charged with battery, a misdemeanor and violating his probation. A couple months ago, reports claimed he would be freed at the end of June.

RumorFix has learned exclusively that rapper Gucci Mane will be out of jail by the end of June — that 15 months earlier than anyone expected. Gucci, who’s real name is Radric Davis, appeared in a Fulton County jail Monday afternoon and in less than an hour, he got the best news of his life. The Atlanta-based star, who has been on probation since October 2005, will end his probation by the end of June and he’ll be out of jail, Gucci’s attorney Mark Issa tells RumorFix. It had been recommended that the “Lemonade” lyricist be sentenced to 17 months in prison for the probation violation, but his attorneys were able to convince the judge to set him free after just 45 days. Reports claimed Gucci’s predicament was related to an incident with a female acquaintance.

Rapper Gucci Mane’s lawyer is denying accusations that the musician pushed a woman out of his Hummer as he drove down a suburban Atlanta street in January. Attorney Ashutosh Joshi said Tuesday the artist intends to plead not guilty. DeKalb County prosecutors on Tuesday announced formal charges of battery, reckless conduct and disorderly conduct against the rapper, also known as Radric Delantic Davis, 31. DeKalb Solicitor-General Sherry Boston said the rapper’s conduct “shows a wilful disregard for a woman’s personal safety.” Joshi said he and his client look forward to having the opportunity to fight the charges in court.
