Hours after Maybach Music Group's Wale ignited the Internet with audio of him verbally attacking Complex Magazine staff, the publication has come forward to provide clarity into the situation.

According to Complex Associate Editor Insanul Ahmed, the company has no personal issues with the MMG rapper.

“Wale did not come to our office. We reached out to Wale’s publicist and management and offered that he could come to our office for a sit-down, on-camera interview where he could vent his frustrations to create a more constructive dialogue about our list. In the end, the camp declined our offer. Complex has no grudge against Wale or any other artist. Wale is an active, relevant artist and someone we have always covered and will continue to cover. He’s made many of our lists in the past. On a more personal note, I have advocated for his music many times in the office and outside. Funny thing is, Wale made this accusation before and back in 2011, I sat down with Wale and talked to him for several hours. I felt like we had worked out whatever issues it was back then.” (HHDX)

Ahmed also suggested Wale could learn from his Top 50 Albums of 2013 exclusion and work harder for future lists.

“Anyone who’s an artist and creates a piece of art wants recognition for what they create. So I totally understand someone’s frustrations for being left out of a list or an award shows nomination. But look at the way Lil Wayne–who also didn’t make our albums list–handled being left out of the BET and VMA nods earlier this year; he took it as a cue to work harder. There’s a lesson there.” (HHDX)

In a new Instagram video clip, the Washington, DC native appeared to joke about the situation yesterday (December 13).

So maybe Wale isn’t as mad as we thought. Unless you’ve living under a rock, you know that Beyonce and Wale have been the two most talked about artists today. While Beyonce was gearing up to release her new album, Wale was gearing up to kick some ass. Earlier today, Complex released an audio recording of the “LoveHate Thing” rapper cursing them out for not including him on their 50 Best Albums Of 2013 list. The tape started off cordial, but quickly escalated, with Wale threatening to “knock n*ggas the f*ck out.” In response to the controversy, Wale released a video on Instagram of him joking about the situation. Prior to the clip, leaked audio from what seemed to be Wale exploding over the incident surfaced online.

Wale does not take rejection lightly. After his album was excluded from Complex’s list of 50 Best Albums of 2013, he went ballistic. The MMG rapper called up the magazine and unleashed a tirade on one of the staff members. He was upset that his album, The Gifted, was not included in the publication’s best of 2013 list. During the three-minute phone call, Wale claimed that Complex had a personal bias towards him. Things quickly got heated and he started screaming. “At this point, you know it’s got to be personal,” he said. “You telling me it’s not personal. It’s like a bold face lie. To be omitted from every type of list that y’all do or be at the bottom of it or every type of way that y’all can omit me, ya will.” (Rap-Up)

The audio clip also showed just how aggressive the MMG rapper could be with his threats.

He even took a shot at Juicy J, who collaborated with him on “Clappers” off The Gifted. “You mean to tell me Juicy J album better than mine?” he said. “Is that what you trying to tell me?” Before the writer had a chance to respond, Wale started making violent threats. “I swear to God I’ll come to that office and start knocking ni**as the f*ck out,” he screamed. “Alright, I’ll see y’all tomorrow. Get the security ready.” (Rap-Up)
