Details of Ocho’s plead of innocence hit the Internet early Thursday (September 13).

Things are going from bad to worse for Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, who is still dealing with the repercussions of the spat he had with estranged wife Evelyn Lozada. Entertainment site TMZ is reporting that Johnson has officially been charged with misdemeanor battery for supposedly headbutting Lozada during an argument, where Lozada claims to have found a receipt for a box of condoms which she assumed was Johnson’s. The State Attorney for Broward County, Fla., filed the charge against Johnson on Wednesday. (Fox News)

An attorney for Ocho confirmed the plea shortly after it became known.

Johnson was not at the hearing this morning, as his plea was entered in by his attorney, Adam Swickle. “We continue to work diligently on the case with the state attorney’s office, and we have been exchanging all evidence in the case,” Swickle told E! News. Swickle added that Johnson is “doing well, considering the circumstance,” and noted that “he always lands back on his feet.” A status conference has been scheduled for Oct. 31. (E! Online)

After a month of speculation, the NFL free agent wide receiver received his formal charge this week.

Chad Johnson has officially been charged with misdemeanor battery after allegedly headbutting his wife Evelyn Lozada during a nuclear argument last month, this according to the State Attorney for Broward County, Florida. If convicted, Chad faces up to a year in jail. As we reported, Chad was arrested for domestic violence in Florida on August 11th after a fight over a condom receipt allegedly turned violent. Evelyn told police Chad headbutted her. At the time of the fight, Evelyn and Chad had barely been married a month. Evelyn has since filed for divorce, claiming their marriage had become “irretrievably broken.” Chad is refusing to sign any divorce papers, insisting he’s still in love with her. Chad was also dropped from the Miami Dolphins following his arrest. He’s now a free agent. (TMZ)

Last week, Ocho made headlines by tattooing Lozada’s face onto his leg.

Dumped Dolphins wide receiver Chad Johnson can’t seem to let go of his estranged wife — and proved it by tattooing her face on his right leg. Johnson, formerly known as Chad Ochocinco, showed off his latest ink featuring Evelyn Lozada and the name “Eve” scrawled below it. Lozada, 36, filed for divorce last month — three days after she told police that Johnson allegedly became violent when she confronted him about a receipt for condoms. (New York Daily News)
