Rap veteran Uncle Luke has stood beside Jay-Z in light of him recently being cited as a secret devil worshipper and said the media targets Hov due to his level of success.

Writing in a Miami New Times column, Luke shared his thoughts on Young Hov.

“All Jay-Z has done is work his a** off. Back in the day, he was on my pay-per-view program “Luke’s Freak Show.” At that time, he was hanging with Biggie Smalls and observing how the late rapper dealt with fame. He learned from other rappers’ mistakes, and that’s why he has lasted so long in the business. Jay-Z is a loyal guy who is way ahead of the game — you don’t see him starting beef with other rappers or going to jail for stupid sh*t. But because he is so successful, and married to a very successful and famous woman (Beyonce), people search for something screwed-up to say about him.” (The 305)

Luke also called the Jay-Z “devil worshipping” rumors humorous and false.

“I don’t know any devil worshippers. And who knows, maybe Jay-Z and other rappers have some devil worshipers as fans. But that doesn’t mean entertainers are sacrificing virgins for Beelzebub. I didn’t even know who the Illuminati were until the Internet started buzzing that Jay-Z was one of them. It’s ridiculous. Jay-Z is a cool cat. He ain’t Hollywood. He is a regular guy. He is so f*cking grounded. It is a shame people want to link him to this conspiracy.” (The 305)

This week, Jay explained that his 2003 Black Album “Lucifer” record was not an ode to Satan.

“I wanted people to have the proper context of rap, the generation, what we went through, these emotions behind these songs,” Jay-Z told MTV News about his new book Decoded. “A song like ‘Lucifer,’ it’s really about the struggle and really about dealing with death and having that feeling. The evil is inside of you, not this mythical character with pitchforks and things like that. Dealing with a feeling of wanting revenge.” (MTV)

Recently, hip-hop icon MC Hammer has labeled Hov as a devil worshipper on his “Better Run Run” diss record and in a recent interview.

“Let’s deal with it from his perspective. I have heard it a lot of people say; ‘Why would Hammer get mad about the truth right – Jay didn’t diss him, he said something that is true?’ The same argument applies, why would you get mad if you’re a fan of his? Did he not say – ‘life begins when the church ends’ [in ‘Empire State of Mind’]? Did he not say – ‘Jesus can’t save you?’ Why you getting mad, have I said something that is not true? Did I put the video with bullets around the cross round Jesus in his [‘On to the Next One’] video? Have I said something that is not true? I haven’t said something that is not true. Where have I made up something. Any of the videos that you wanna put up, where I have said that he got satanic references to, I ain’t saying nothing that isn’t true either. So that logic applies across the board.” (All Hip Hop)
