Odd Future’s Tyler, the Creator recently opened up about his admiration toward Young Money leader Lil Wayne and meeting the New Orleans hip-hop star.
While Tyler admits Weezy is calm, cool and collective, he also said there’s hope he will lock-in studio time with him later down the road.
“Wayne’s cool. I ran into him at my hangout back home, and he’s just cool,” Tyler told MTV News. Tyler also has dreams of working with Wayne, but he hasn’t yet built up the courage to tap his manager Christian Clancy to help put the plan in motion. “I actually have this beat that I want him on, but I was too scared to get it to Clancy to get it to them, but Wayne’s cool.” When they met, the two rappers didn’t get to speak long, and it was Weezy who dominated the conversation. “I wanted to kinda fan out and sh–,” Tyler admitted, “but he gave me a speech about how happy he was that I won a VMA and that seeing my mom go crazy kinda made him feel like he won it too, because that sh– was real as f—.” (MTV)
A few days ago, Weezy revealed his Odd Future co-sign.
“I just rock with ‘em. Shout out my man Taco that’s my dude,” Weezy F. said of OF and member Taco in particular. “I’m just real cool with the homies. Shout out Tyler.” While Wayne is surely busy touring, prepping releases for his Young Money collective and recording for his own I Am Not a Human Being 2, the fiery lyricist plans to catch the group while they are out on the road on there current tour. “I’m gonna catch a few of their shows, go check out a few of their shows and stuff,” he said. “Shout to OF, Odd Future, Young Money, Cash Money, Wolf Gang.” (RapFix)
Last month, West Coast rapper Game likened Tyler to Grammy-winning rapper Eminem.
“When you’re on a song with Tyler you can say whatever the f*ck you want,” Game said. “I always say what I want but I don’t think I go as far as Tyler…I think he’s like the West Coast Eminem. He don’t give a f*ck. He just rhyme about whatever and it’s like right out of an open book. I like him more than I like most new rappers. He don’t really want anything other than just to rap.” (VIBE)
Prior to Game’s remarks, Tyler ran into Eminem while spending time in Ireland.
Bad really met evil when Tyler, the Creator ran into Eminem. The rappers, both no strangers to controversy, recently posed backstage at the Tennent’s ViTal music festival in Ireland. It was a dream come true for the Odd Future frontman, who grew up idolizing Slim Shady. “F*ckkkkk O My Atheist God,” tweeted Tyler, winner of the Moonman for Best New Artist at the 2011 VMAs. “Goal List Check: I Told Him Relapse Was One Of The Greatest Albums To Me.” (Rap-Up)
