Pop star Miley Cyrus has revealed a new collaboration with Odd Future's Tyler, the Creator is on deck months after linking up in the studio.
While she did not dish out too many details, Cyrus promised Tyler gave his all on their collabo.
“I wrote this song with Mary J. Blige, and Tyler the Creator heard it and said, “I am obsessed with this song, and I will guest on it if you promise me that you will keep it on the album.” And he killed it! I really didn’t want to make a hip-hop record, and I’m not trying at all to be a Rihanna or a Nicki [Minaj]….That’s not my vibe. When I was growing up, my older brother would sneak me Nelly CDs, my dad had me listening to Dolly [Parton] and Johnny [Cash], and my mom is a complete metal head. So this record is a weird mixture of all that.” (Cosmopolitan)
Last November, Miley talked about linking up with mega producer Pharrell Williams for some new tunes.
“A lot of the beats are produced hip-hop beats,” she said, “but the vocal is very raw and my voice is kind of on top of all the tracks, which is what I wanted.” Cyrus said she is working with producer Pharrell Williams and “a lot of hip-hop producers that are actually from the South, because I wanted more of that dirty-South vibe, a little ATL in there.” While she loves performing on camera, music matters most to Cyrus. “I want people to remember me for things that are great,” she said. “Much bigger than the comedies that I do, but more about the music that I write and the songs that you leave for the world to think about.” (Billboard)
In late October, Cyrus and Pharrell were spotted in a studio alongside Tyler, the Creator.
Yes, that’s right — as proven by the above photo, Skateboard P was cooking up some music with former Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus and foul-mouthed reaction-grabber Tyler, the Creator. Pharrell posted the photo on his Twitter, simply writing “In the lab.” While it’s unclear exactly what they’re working on as of yet, colour us intrigued. Maybe Miley Cyrus’s new Robyn hair will translate into the way she sings, too. (Exclaim)
Back in August, Tyler fired a public diss at Cyrus over rocking a new hairstyle.
“Hahahaha. She Was Like, ‘Hey, i Wanna Do Something Different…..F*ck Me Up Real Quick’. Hahahaha,” Tyler tweeted in August. (Tyler, the Creator’s Twitter)
Rather than ignore his jab, Cyrus lashed back at the Odd Future leader.
