[Each week, SOHH asks two entertainment personalities to name their Top 5 rappers of all-time. To make things tricky, we’ve created a “Hall of Fame” of emcees (see right) who are universally respected and therefore may not be mentioned. After J Star revealed his top picks last week, West Coast rapper Mann whips out his fave five.]
Kendrick Lamar. Kendrick is one of the most authentic artists out right now. He says some things that the world needs, not just young people from L.A. He has something that the world will really follow.
Tyler, the Creator. I feel like Tyler just takes risks. You need that hip-hop. He’s somebody that’s not afraid to do exactly what you’ve got to do.
Buddy. Buddy is like raw talent. He’s just really good at what he does.
Eazy-E. I feel like if there was no Eazy-E, there would be no Mann. He opened that way for the short, young, fly cat. The short guy from L.A. He was short and all of the girls loved him. So it’s kind of the role I want to play in L.A.
2 Chainz. Lyrically, I feel like he has the most interesting [style]. It captures you when he raps.
