Brooklyn rapper Troy Ave has finally come forward to speak out. The hip-hop artist has reacted to New York podcaster Daryl “Taxstone” Campbell‘s arrest in a May 2016 shooting that took his friend’s life.
Ave issued a statement and suggested the arrest should help prove his innocence in the fatal gunfire.
“I view the charges brought today before the SDNY as a positive step in the direction of true justice for what occurred at Irving Plaza that night,” the Brooklyn rapper said in a statement through his lawyer, John B. Stella. “As we have said since May 26, 2016, Roland Collins (Troy Ave) did not enter Irving Plaza with a handgun the night of the TI concert,” his lawyer Stella, said in a statement. “He was not responsible for the four shots fired inside the Green Room that took the life of his dear friend (Ronald) McPhatter, and caused injury to him and two other innocent bystanders.” (Bossip)
The latest reports claim a judge denied Taxstone’s $500,000 bail bond.
While Manhattan Federal Magistrate Judge Andrew Peck had agreed on Tuesday to release Campbell, 31, on $500,000 bond and house arrest, prosecutors on Wednesday convinced Manhattan Federal Judge Lewis Kaplan to keep Campbell behind bars. They doubled down on their arguments Campbell posed a danger to the community and said witness testimony would “directly show” he fired, at a minimum, the shot that killed McPhatter. Buzz developed yesterday about Taxstone allegedly owning the murder weapon which took the life of a bodyguard in a spring 2016 shooting.
He aint innocent though. Even though his friend was killed what Troy did was not selfdefense it was retaliation. No lawyer walking this planet could get him out of this with no jail time. If Troy gets 10 yrs he should consider that good.
