R&B singer Trey Songz reportedly caught a big break in a recent strip club assault case which accused him of hitting a woman in the face with cash during an album release party last summer.
According to reports, prosecutors came to the conclusion there is not enough evidence to pursue a hefty legal case against Songz.
It’s unclear if the woman was a stripper … or just one of those sexy waitresses that don’t get naked (so disappointing, right?). Officials investigated the incident … and ultimately determined they couldn’t prove he did anything illegal, so Trey is in the clear. But the Queens D.A.’s office tells TMZ … even if Trey did throw cash, “There would be no clear case of misconduct. There was just no high level of recklessness.” So, what’s the lesson here? If you’re gonna make it rain … be gentle. (TMZ)
The story made headlines back in mid-December despite the alleged crime taking place months prior.
Throwing dollar bills at a woman (aka MAKING IT RAIN!!!) seems harmless, but it got Trey Songz arrested for assault in New York recently … TMZ has learned. Songz (real name Tremaine Neverson) had an album release party on August 21 at a gentleman’s club in Queens. According to police, somewhere between 4:00 and 4:15 AM on the 22nd, Trey became involved in an altercation inside the club. Cops described the incident this way in the criminal complaint: “Tremaine Neverson, did throw a sum of United States currency at the complainant and said sum of United States currency struck the complainant’s left eye causing substantial pain to her left eye.” (TMZ)
The incident came just days before his Chapter V solo album landed on the album sales chart.
Leading the way this week is R&B singer Trey Songz’s Chapter V at No. 1. According to Nielsen SoundScan, the soulful singer’s new LP has sold 135,000 after seven days in stores. (SOHH Sales Wrap)
It was also around the time fellow R&B singer Keri Hilson denied getting knocked up by Songz.
“I am NOT pregnant! *runs to the gym* why the f*ck they sayin that? Rumors people, rumors. D*mn! Let a sista live *wink*,” she tweeted August 23rd. (Keri Hilson’s Twitter)
