New York rapper Troy Ave is relying on fans to help rally behind him by putting out a new mixtape called “Free Troy Ave” Monday (June 6).
Ave changed the project’s original title, Real Vs. Fake, to now reflect his current legal crunch.

G-Unit boss 50 Cent spoke up for Troy amid him being charged for attempted murder following a fatal T.I. concert shooting.
Last week on Instagram, fellow rapper Meek Mill posted up a pic of the New York rapper in a wheelchair and started up a “Free Troy Ave” hashtag.
Ave’s attorney spoke out last week on his client being a victim in the shooting.
“In the hip hop world, he’s not known as one of these troublemakers. He doesn’t live a gangster rap lifestyle,” said attorney John Stella. “What really happened here is Mr. Collins here is the real victim,” said another Collins attorney, Scott Leemon. “The person who was killed at this event, he died a hero. He was his bodyguard. He wasn’t shot by Mr. Collins. He was a lifelong friend.” (NY Daily News)
