Rap veteran Tone Loc reportedly collapsed for the third time in three years at a Texas concert entering the weekend and, oddly enough, managed to complete his set after receiving temporary medical attention.
According to reports, Loc’s body shut down during a Friday (June 15) live performance.
L.A. rapper Tone Loc collapsed on stage while performing at his show in Austin, Texas on Friday, June 15 night. Loc was treated for heat exhaustion before returning to the stage half an hour later to finish his show. The “Wild Thing” hitmaker fell to the floor at The Moody Theater and needed assistance to get off the stage, TMZ reported. Loc is “doing better” and is not expected to cancel future shows including the Saturday night show in Lewisville, Texas. (Ace Showbiz)
Despite the medical complication, Loc still managed to return and finish his set.
TMZ says the the performer — known for such ’90s hits as “Wild Thing” and “Funky Cold Medina” — blames heat exhaustion. But after getting some water, he returned to finish his Friday set at the Moody Theater. According to tweets from numerous eye witnesses however, the rapper weirdly performed the exact same songs as before the fall. TMZ says Tone Loc has recovered and was set to take the stage in Lewisville on Saturday. (Houston Chronicle)
Last year,Loc made headlines after collapsing at an Atlanta concert.
Loc’s manager tells TMZ he was suffering from exhaustion. Loc was transported to a nearby hospital and given an IV … but the manager says he is fine now. TMZ received emails from several people claiming to be present at the concert who said Loc suffered from a seizure, but we cannot confirm this. The manager added … Tone was merely exhausted from doing 12 shows in the last two months. It does seem curious that doing a show on average of once every five days would lead to such extreme exhaustion. (TMZ)
In 2009, he also suffered a seizure following a Florida concert.
Tone was released on Friday after collapsing during an outdoor concert in Florida, officials said. Colleen Kirsch, spokeswoman for Gulf Breeze Hospital, said Friday afternoon that Tone Loc had been treated at the hospital and released. The rapper’s manager, Bobby Bessone with B.A.M. Management/Entertainment Artists Agency, said flight delays and heat contributed to the collapse. He said the rapper is recovering. (Associated Press)
