Rap veteran Tim Dog is making headlines, however, it is for pleading guilty to grand larceny after defrauding a woman of roughly $32,000.
Details of the guilty plea agreement emerged online Thursday (September 15).
Former 1990s rapper Tim Dog, whose real name is Timothy Blair, has entered a guilty plea to grand larceny in northern Mississippi for defrauding a woman out of thousands of dollars. The 46-year-old Blair pleaded guilty last month in the financial scheme that Southaven resident Esther Pilgrim said left her with $32,000 in credit card debt. (The Washington Post)
Along with probation, Tim Dog is also required to pay back the victim.
Under the plea agreement, Blair got five years of probation and must pay Pilgrim $19,000 in restitution within the probation period. (The News Tribune)
Last spring, rap star 50 Cent became the victim of a credit card fraud case.
Rapper 50 Cent has been targeted by credit card fraudsters who have allegedly attempted to make unauthorized purchases using his account. Two men were arrested in West Hartford, Connecticut over allegations they tried to buy two $1,000 flatscreen TVs from a local electronics store last year using the hip-hop star’s American Express number. The pair were detained by cops after the store owner became suspicious and called the credit card company. (Contact Music)
Tim Dog’s rise to fame is largely contributed to his 1990’s wage against the West Coast.
Bronx rapper Tim Dog (born Tim Blair) fired fresh shots in the long-simmering hip-hop coastal war with his 1991 album Penicillin on Wax. His single “F— Compton” triggered answers and comebacks in West and East Coast circles, and helped his album become an underground sensation, though not a major hit.
