Music streaming service TIDAL is reportedly rewarding lucky members with passes to watch R&B diva Beyoncé on her Formation World Tour.
According to a TIDAL press release, members playing Bey’s Lemonade album later this month will automatically be entered to win tickets for her nationwide tour.
TIDAL is giving members the chance to go to the Formation World Tour! Starting on May 30th, members that stream Beyoncé’s LEMONADE will be entered for a chance to win tickets for shows across the country.
Recent reports claimed Bey’s new album helped spark a surge in TIDAL subscribers.
Tidal said that it gained 1.2 million user sign-ups, including free trials, in the first week that “Lemonade” was available; the service had said in March that it had 3 million users. As for its competitors, Spotify said that it had 30 million paying subscribers globally; Apple Music said it had 13 million. (New York Times)
Music mogul Jay Z‘s growing streaming platform recently donated $1.5 million to pro-Black organizations and movements like Black Lives Matter.
The announcement was made on the same day that Trayvon Martin would have turned 21 years old. The Trayvon Martin Foundation will get a portion of these funds. Other recipients will include organizations created by families of police brutality victims, such as the Michael O.D. Brown We Love Our Sons and Daughters Foundation and the Oscar Grant Foundation. Recently, comedian/producer Cipha Sounds spoke to SOHH about joining the TIDAL platform for his popular “No Small Talk” stand-up series.
“Eventually I plan on doing [platforms like Netflix] but the thing is Roc Nation and TIDAL are like hand-in-hand. I got this term I’ve been using lately, it’s like a mantra. Go where you’re celebrated, not tolerated. There’s no other comedy original programming on TIDAL. I’m known as the comedy guy of Roc Nation and around the TIDAL people. It’s not the normal route most people go, but whatever the normal route is now wasn’t always the normal route. The first person to do a Netflix comedy special looked crazy.
