[WIth music mogul Jay Z’s TIDAL streaming service continuing to blow up, TIDAL Discovery artist August Rigo talks about his experience on the growing entertainment platform.]
I’m pretty sure my relationship with TIDAL went like this: I was performing at a venue in New York City and I think one of the guys from TIDAL saw the show and heard one of my songs and was really interested in its content and liked the song in general.
Ever since then, they’ve been extremely supportive of what I’ve been trying to do as well as for everyone else I’ve worked with. They’ve been extremely supportive with postings and keeping us on the TIDAL Discovery page with the movement and what we’re trying to do.
To be an independent artist and mentioned along the same names as Rihanna and Jay Z, it really breathes a new life into that sort of independent world you would normally never get. There’s usually that separation from top tier artists and the people like us who are coming up and eventually want to get there.
That’s just the way the industry works. It’s always difficult to break through and having a platform like TIDAL and being able to be seen by the millions of subscribers they have, that’s just invaluable to have.
