Southern producer/rapper Lil Jon recently opened up about his stint on “Celebrity Apprentice” and how his career as a rap artist allowed people to view him negatively on the television show.

From Jon’s perspective, his background as a rapper stirred negative notions from the show’s other competitors.

“People think, ‘Oh, I don’t need to worry about him,’ and they underestimate me because I am a rapper,” Jon explained in an interview. “They’re not realizing I have a vast knowledge in all types of business and I am a real threat…I’m not just a rapper, and the music business has made me built for the kinds of challenges we do on the show. The hours we have to keep — I am in the studio from noon until 5 in the morning. I am used to working long hours with no sleep. Everyone on the show looked at me like, ‘He isn’t going to be able to do this,’ and I proved them wrong.” (PopEater)

Aside from the stereotypes, Jon discussed his motivation for deciding to compete on the show.

“I’m a people person. I can get along with the biggest a**holes in the world so I got along with pretty much everybody,” he added. “I watched past seasons. I watched two seasons straight of ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ to see what I was getting my d*mn self into and to make sure I was mentally prepared for this journey…I definitely wanted to help out people in need. [Jon’s charity is the United Methodist Children’s Home.] But I also wanted to dispel the rumor that rappers are blunt-smoking ignorant people.” (PopEater)

Last October, Jon became one of many artists serving pizzas for charity in New York City.

Meat Loaf, Lil Jon, Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray and John Rich of country duo Big & Rich were among the celebrities selling pies at Famiglia’s Pizza in downtown New York on Tuesday (Oct. 19). The stunt, which attracted a growing crowd of onlookers throughout the day, was part of a television shoot widely rumored to be for the upcoming season of Donald Trump‘s NBC reality franchise, “Celebrity Apprentice.” Lil Jon stood outside the pizzeria and held up signs promoting the sale of the “celebrity” pizza, with the proceeds for each pie going to charity. The rapper’s pizza flipping was reportedly for an episode of “Celebrity Apprentice.”

The taping of “The Celebrity Apprentice” officially began rolling on Tuesday, October 19 when the stars were out selling pizzas for charity. As usual, the very first task in the reality show is a battle of gender and it revolves around food. The show had previously assigned celebrities to sell hot dogs, cup cakes and burgers. The upcoming season of “Celebrity Apprentice” is set to air in March.
