Mid-Western rap duo The Cool Kids will headline the 4th annual Bounce Tour to help promote the upcoming basketball videogame NBA 2K9 dropping next week.
According to Billboard, Chi-town emcee Mickey Rocks and Detroit rapper Chuck Inglish will be hitting up a variety of venues helping bring excitement to the top-selling basketball franchise game for the past few years.
“We selected the Cool Kids for various lifestyle partnerships with NBA 2K9 since they are completely inline with the 2K Sports brand,” Tim Rosa, the franchise’s director of lifestyle and marketing, told Billboard. “Their music is unique and positive, their vibe is independent and authentic, and they roll with their own signature style–all of the same attributes we strive for with our games.”
The 2K game series will continue to maintain their hip-hop presence as artists including Steve Aoki, Aceyalone, A Tribe Called Quest‘s Phife and Bounce magazine editor-in-chief Bobbito Garcia will each be playable characters.
Gaining popularity from releasing music via MySpace along with opening up shows for artists like M.I.A. and collaborating with Lil’ Wayne, the duo are expected to release their first full-length disc When Fish Ride Bicycles possibly before the year ends.
NBA 2K9 is scheduled to hit all retail stores Tuesday, October 7.
