Midwest rapper Tech N9ne recently displayed interest in linking with Young Money's Nicki Minaj and West Coast legend Snoop Dogg for a collaboration.
Based on a recent Ustream broadcast, Tech also updated fans on an upcoming joint record with Lil Wayne and T-Pain.
“Janelle Monae is the sh*t,” Tech explained. “I can’t wait to work with her. I have to contact Janelle Monae…Already sent [Lil] Wayne the track ‘F*ck Food.’ He has it. T-Pain just did his. Two days ago, it was dope. He changed the hook, you know what I mean, but it’s dope. He’s spitting so [it’s] a wonderful thing…I have a song slated for Nicki Minaj it’s called ‘Pornographic’ with her and Snoop [Dogg], but I don’t know if she’ll do it. We’ll see.” (Ustream)
In December, Tech dropped hints about his forthcoming Pain and Wayne collaboration.
“I’m working on All 6’s and 7’s, my new album,” Tech explained in an interview. “So, the first song I’ma do is called ‘F*ck Food.’ I’ma send it to Wayne. And T-Pain. I’m probably gonna contact him first. I’ma put my verse on it, and put the hook on it for T-Pain. Hopefully T-Pain will do it. We been talking back and forth with T-Pain through [Krizz] Kaliko, ’cause Kaliko just did a song for him on his mixtape. And my producer is now his producer. T-Pain stole my producer, Young Fyre. So that’s why I can’t get no Young Fyre beats no more. [Laughs] So tell Pain since he stole my producer, he gotta do this hook for me. [Laughs]” (Hip Hop DX)
Last summer, Lil Wayne publicly co-signed N9ne’s music while serving out a one-year jail sentence.
“I’ve been saying to myself that I really want to do a song with either Andre 3000 or my man…Tech N9ne,” he said. “Other than that, I’ve been really trying to do a song with this little dude, this boy Weezy. That boy Weezy, he’s stupid [laughs].” (Hot 97)
Recently, Midwest rapper XV crowned Tech N9ne as SOHH Underrated.
“Who is the most underrated rapper in the game? Hhmm. There are actually a lot of artists out there that I feel [should be] considered the most underrated. Like, it used to be B.o.B. and then he hit it off with the smash [hits] and it was like, ‘There we go. That’s it.’ So probably outside of B.o.B., I would have to say, probably Tech N9ne. That’s hard. But I’d name Tech N9ne. Tech N9ne out of Kansas City. He’s definitely one of the most underrated, hardest working and breakthrough artists. He’s one of those artists that have never really came out to the public. He just blew [on the underground scene]. So I would have to say Tech N9ne.” (SOHH Underrated)
