Tech N9ne Reloads On Forbes’ Cash Kings: “We Keep Popping Up On That List” [Video]

Midwest rap veteran Tech N9ne recently offered his thoughts on making headlines for landing on the annual Forbes Cash Kings list and what it means to the movement he has pushed over the past few decades.

Tech admitted he likes to keep his financial gains low-key but boasted about landing on such a prestigious list.

“It’s crazy man, because we keep popping up on that list. We’re staying afloat. It just solidifies that I really am Dracula,” Tech joked. “I’m the kind of dude that wins the lottery, I don’t want nobody to know. But the Forbes list, it’s a beautiful thing to see us still on the incline. I’ll say that. It’s a beautiful thing to see us on there because of music, ’cause that’s all I got. If I don’t do it hard, what am I doing it for, man?” (The NE Hip-Hop)

Cash Money Records head Baby recently acknowledged his YMCMB family making it onto the elusive top ten.

“4artist in top 10 in forbes cashking.hardwork dedication loyalty and Focus Richgang.OVO PG YMCMB,” Baby tweeted September 24. (Birdman’s Twitter)

Tech N9ne initially applauded himself for his grind finally paying off.

“Hard work, but this makes it all worth it! @Forbes … ” (Tech N9ne’s Twitter)

Bad Boy Records boss Diddy, Jay Z and Dr. Dre all managed to land in the top three.

Hip-hop’s net worth king claims his first annual earnings crown thanks mostly to the success of Ciroc vodka. Other ingredients in his cash cocktail: record label Bad Boy, clothing line Sean John and, soon, cable channel Revolt. Lost his hyphen but gained double-digit millions from lucrative live shows, Armand de Brignac champagne, D’Ussé cognac, Roc Nation label/management firm and other ventures. Last year’s Cash King slips two spots, no longer boosted by a nine-figure payout for selling part of Beats by Dr. Dre in 2011. But he’s still cashing in on the ubiquitous headphones, expanding the company he founded with Interscope chief Jimmy Iovine to include a long-awaited streaming music service. (Forbes)

The Top 20 consists of some first-timers like West Coast rapper Kendrick Lamar.
