Despite the superior title, Tech applauded Em for putting his all into the buzzing record.

“Yes, I heard ‘Rap God.’ Everybody want to know what I think. I think he’s rapping his a** off. That’s what I think. You know what I’m saying,” Tech said in an interview. “Somebody said it makes me want to hit the pad harder. I’m like, ‘I always hit the pad hard.’ So, yeah, nothing makes me [want to go harder] much anymore. But that? I was smiling, so it was a good thing. I listened to it twice.” (The NE Hip Hop)

Recently, Slaughterhouse’s Joe Budden noted how hard Em went on “Rap God.”

Thus far, Em has dropped a few singles for the lyrical nerds, including the most recent “Rap God.” “I think this [album] is for rap fans,” Joe Budden explained. “I think that he’s been inspired as of late and I know he’s been working really hard. I know he has an overabundance of records to choose from and they’re all rap. You can tell that even from the records released like ‘Berzerk’– a real old school Beastie Boys kinda feel, and ‘Rap God’ — where he’s just rapping for six minutes straight.” “He even dyed his hair back to blond, so he’s going back to an earlier time, and I think fans will look forward to that.” (MTV)

Fully behind the record, Budden’s Slaughterhouse crew member Crooked I recently said not too many artists can keep surprising fans like Slim Shady.

“It was crazy,” Crooked I said in an interview. “It’s just always refreshing to hear a super mainstream artist with bars and skills because a lot of these mainstream dudes that’s rapping out there is wack as f*ck. So, here’s somebody who has all the success and has achieved so much in the game and he still has bars to bar you out the game. It’s real refreshing. He basically took the art of double-time rapping and displayed the many different ways you can do that. There’s different cadences you can use when you’re double-timing. He just displayed almost all of them on one song.” (HHDX)

A few weeks ago, N9ne named Eminem in his Top 9 all-time favorite rappers.

“Top 9 dead or alive. Okay, let’s see. Eminem’s in there. Tech N9ne is in there. Tupac is in there. Notorious B.I.G. is in there. Big L is in there. Nas is in there. Jay Z is in there. Kendrick Lamar is in there. And one more. Let’s see. There’s gotta be somebody good, man. Uh, uh, uh, it’s between KRS-One and Rakim. Ah man. You know what I’m seeing? I wish it was ten, then I’d be perfect. I’m going to say KRS-One. He did things that made me want to rap. I been in the crowd when he did, ‘The Bridge Is Over,’ I been in the crowd, sizzling.” (Power 107.5)
