Cash Money Records/We The Best's Ace Hood recently talked about the buzz behind his infectious "Bugatti" anthem and downplayed T-Pain's speculated issues with Future jacking his style on the track.
In Ace’s perspective, Pain’s comments about Future being the new version of himself are simply based on being competitive.
“T-Pain the homie, Future’s doing his thing,” Ace said. “Music is a competitive thing, so I wasn’t in a sense shocked but you know that’s what music, I guess, allows us to do. It’s a competitive sport in a sense so at the end of the day, we all got different emotions about how we feel about certain things. … Time kinda comes back around for everything. Just like there was a B.I.G. and Pac — that’s just part of inspiration. That’s how it works. You can see a little bit of somebody in everybody. I just think that’s how music is.” (Sirius XM)
A few weeks ago, Pain came clean on his stance toward Future and the rapper’s usage of Auto-Tune.
“I don’t think Future gets the technology very well. I don’t think he understands how it actually works,” he said. “He’s writing great songs. He’s a great writer. Keep in mind, you can use Auto-Tune and you can know how to work perfectly, but you still have to know how to write a good song. Just because he sound good doesn’t mean he’s saying good stuff. As far as how he uses Auto-Tune, I don’t think he knows how it works. I think he’s thinking that you just turn it on, and then it just happens. But nah, he writes great, great hooks and great songs themselves. I just don’t think he actually knows how to use Auto-Tune yet.” (Hot 93.7)
A few days prior, the Auto-Tune king taunted Future as the “new” version of himself.
“Funny thing about that Bugatti you woke up in, #ItsMine #OhTheIrony hahahaaaa funny how “the new T-Pain” has to use “The old T-Pain’s Bugatti for his Bugatti hook hahaaaaa yea. So. There’s That. Not at all throwing shots at @Acehood that’s my man 100 grand. – T-Pain” T-Pain is clearly referring to Future who sings, “I woke up in a new Bugatti,” on Ace Hood’s, “Bugatti,” track. Recently, Future admitted he did not use Auto-Tune the same way T-Pain has in the past.
“When I first used Auto-Tune, I never used it to sing. I wasn’t using it the way T-Pain was. I used it to rap because it makes my voice sound grittier. Now everybody wants to rap in Auto-Tune. Future’s not everybody. The people who are taking my style are like my babies. I’ve got a tribe of kids that want to be like me… But I understand why people want to imitate the things I do. They’re dope. It comes naturally to me. My fans can expect greatness. If I wasn’t me, I would want to be me.” (Complex)
