Grammy-winning singer T-Pain has put an end to the recent speculation of him having serious issues with fellow Auto-Tune user Future.

Rather than ignore the topic, Pain admitted he is a fan of Future but noted who people should credit for the Auto-Tune craze.

T-Pain may be the king of Auto-Tune, but he doesn’t mind when others use it. The “Up Down” singer dismissed reports of friction with Future and defended the Atlanta rapper’s Auto-Tuned music. “I’m down with it. I like it. I totally like it,” T-Pain told Rap-Up TV. “People always ask me how I feel. I’m flattered. I feel like that’s what’s working because I made it work.” But he did take a moment to brag. “People wouldn’t be using Auto-Tune at all if it wasn’t for me right now,” declared T-Pain. “I feel like I’m the best to do it. I use it the best. When people try to compare me to other people using it, I don’t see the comparison.” (Rap-Up)

T-Pizzle also noted how much successful entertainers get criticized.

Still, he doesn’t see the need to hate on others. “They give Future crap for using Auto-Tune. And I see it all the time because it’s mostly fans of me that think I should be getting credit for it,” he explained. “I tell them, listen, everybody gets crap for everything. If you’re good at something, they’re gonna give you crap. If you’re bad at something, they’re gonna give you crap. So just let it be.” (Rap-Up)

Last spring, T-Pain talked to SOHH and discussed banking on his own “T-Pain Effect” device.

“I’m all for everyone expressing themselves in any way they want. That’s the only thing that has allowed me to have the amazing success that I’ve had,” Pain told SOHH via an exclusive statement. “I made the T-Pain effect because that’s what everyone was calling it (auto tune) anyways. I figure I had better capitalize off of it and make my own pitch correction software.” (SOHH)

A few weeks prior, Pain came clean on his stance toward Future and the rapper’s usage of the voice-changing tool.

“I don’t think Future gets the technology very well. I don’t think he understands how it actually works,” he said. “He’s writing great songs. He’s a great writer. Keep in mind, you can use Auto-Tune and you can know how to work perfectly, but you still have to know how to write a good song. Just because he sound good doesn’t mean he’s saying good stuff. As far as how he uses Auto-Tune, I don’t think he knows how it works. I think he’s thinking that you just turn it on, and then it just happens. But nah, he writes great, great hooks and great songs themselves. I just don’t think he actually knows how to use Auto-Tune yet.” (Hot 93.7)
