T.I. Says Atlantic Records Prez Slot Is “Among The Realm Of Possibilities”

With the recent announcement of Atlantic Records executive Julie Greenwald being promoted to COO, Grand Hustle Records co-founder Clifford “T.I.” Harris is reportedly open to taking over a top position at the label.

Tip has confirmed his interest in possibly becoming Atlantic’s president in the near future.

“It’s among the realm of possibilities,” he told television personality Sway in an interview. “Ah, man, when I [do] speak upon it, it will be fact…I think I have another obligation I have to take care of that may supersede that.” (MTV News)

The opportunity comes as a result of former Atlantic president Julie Greenwald being promoted.

Craig Kallman, Chairman and CEO of The Atlantic Records Group, today (February 5) announced that Julie Greenwald has been promoted to Chairman and Chief Operating Officer. The two executives will expand their successful partnership that, among other achievements, has seen Atlantic reach the industry’s No. 1 label position in the U.S. in 2008 based on strong performances from Kid Rock, T.I., Jason Mraz, Plies, Lupe Fiasco and the soundtrack to the film Twilight. Greenwald has since reacted to her new promotion.

“I’m really proud of the company Craig and I have built,” she said in a statement. “I’m inspired every day to be working alongside the most dedicated staff and to have such a rich and diverse roster of talented artists. I’m confident we will continue to flourish within the house that Ahmet built.” (Market Wire)

Tip is known for being a successful executive for his company, Grand Hustle.

In 2005 alone, he launched his own film production company, Grand Hustle Films, signed a multi-artist joint venture deal for his label, Grand Hustle, with Atlantic Records, and established a music publishing deal for Grand Hustle Music with Warner Chappell. He also co-executive produced the soundtrack to the hit film, Hustle and Flow and released the collection through Grand Hustle/Atlantic and did the same for the debut album of his group P$C, 25 to Life (Grand Hustle)
