Mega rap star T.I. appeared in an Atlanta courtroom today (January 6) to address an $8,000 past due attorney’s bill for his current custody case.
The Associated Press reports Tip promptly arrived in court today to settle the financial matter stemming from a child support order.
T.I. appeared in court in Atlanta on Tuesday and promptly paid an $8,000 overdue attorney bill for the mother of his two sons. The rapper told a judge the debt was an oversight.
According to WCTV, the multi-platinum selling rapper was scheduled to handle the matter sometime throughout the day regarding a case with former girlfriend, LaShon Dixon.
The two-time Grammy winner was ordered in September to pay more than $3,000 a month to LaShon Dixon, to whom he had been paying about $2,000 per month, as well as the boys’ private school tuition, uninsured medical bills and expenses related to the children’s extracurricular activities. The court ordered T.I. to pay the attorney fees by Nov. 19, said Dixon’s attorney, Randy Kessler.
Past reports from E! Online claim that Dixon and Tip have been romantically involved since their teenage years and together parented two children currently aged 7 and 8 which led to a September lawsuit against the rapper.
Per the complaint, Dixon is seeking a court order upping his monthly checks commensurate with the millions he’s now earning from his album sales and a burgeoning business empire that includes a film unit and a clothing line.
Allhiphop reports in addition to today’s hearing, Tip is still facing the completion of community service prior to going behind bars.
The upcoming hearing comes as T.I. prepares to begin a one-year prison sentence in March after completing 1,000 hours of community service. The rapper, who also fathers two sons by his fiance TamekaTiny Cottle, pleaded guilty to federal weapons charges last year.
A rep for Tip could not be reached as of press time.
