Grammy-winning rapper T.I. appears hungry to continue his streak of successful movies by following up 2010's Takers with an upcoming comedy titled Identify Thief.
While details are still coming together, Tip is going to play the role of a bounty hunter.
Tip has joined the cast of Universal Pictures’ Identity Thief, reports Deadline.com. He will play a bounty hunter in the film, which stars Jason Bateman (Juno) and Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids). That’s not the only role T.I. has lined up. He will co-star in Kelsey Grammer‘s drama series “Boss” for Starz and is shooting the second season of his VH1 docu-series “T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle,” which premieres September 3. (Rap-Up)
Back in 2010, the “King of the South” revealed just how many sacrifices he made to create Takers.
“I did assist with the producing…I lost sleep to say the least,” he added about juggling all of his professional and personal obligations while “Takers” was in production. “I increased my responsibilities and just basically sacrificed my time. Just sacrificed in every way possible whenever necessary.” (MTV)
He also previously credited Takers co-star Idris Elba for strengthening his acting skills.
And whilst working on the movie T.I. admits that he learnt a lot whilst working alongside The Wire actor Idris Elba. “Idris is a phenomenal talent, an outstanding man. I learned a lot from his methods of acting and we hit it off personally as well as professionally. “Everybody was humbled. Everybody was down to earth. I loved working with Idris as well as the rest of the crew.” (Female First)
A few days ago, Tip hinted at wanting to hang up his rap career for good.
“This is what everyone fails to realize. I want out. I want out, man. What the game is going to and what has evolved into from a personality standpoint, it goes against what I represent. What I embody, this game contradicts that. So I want out. I’m in it because I love music and I have obligations contractually.” (“The Breakfast Club”)
