Brooklyn hip-hop veteran Talib Kweli recently talked about his relationship with Kanye West and why the G.O.O.D Music head is notorious for interrupting performances.

Nearly four years since Ye’s infamous Taylor Swift incident at the MTV Video Music Awards, Kweli said he used to receive similar treatment from the rap star.

“He would cut me off during my shows,” Kweli explained. “So when I see him do it to Taylor Swift, I’m like ‘Oh, that’s what he used to do to me. He literally would come on stage while I was rapping and stop the music and say, ‘Yo, I gotta kick this rhyme. And I would have to be like, ‘Yo, you can’t, this is my show.’ But that’s how passionate he is about the music.” (Paul J Cantor)

Talib also stood up for Ye in light of him receiving negative attention and dicey criticism on a regular basis.

“He’s done some things that have been looked at as arrogant, and I’m sure that he’s dealing with them,” he said. “And he’s done some things that he’s apologized for. He also said George Bush don’t care about black people. He’s also done some revolutionary things. At the end of the day those positives and negatives are what make him the great artist that he is. And I can tell you from first hand experiences that he didn’t change… The way he is now, he was like that before the money and the fame. He was talking about he was the best producer; ‘I’m the best rapper,’ ‘I’m the best dresser.’ His attitude was exactly the same.” (Paul J Cantor)

Coincidentally, rap mogul Jay-Z makes reference to the VMAs incident on his new “100$ Bill” record.

Taylor Swift isn’t the only one who uses her songs to get revenge! In a new song from The Great Gatsby soundtrack, Jay-Z calls the 23-year-old singer out! In the song, Jay-Z implies that people tell celebrities to behave, but they don’t have to because of the amount of money they have. He raps, “That cheese made us constipated couldn’t tell us s**t. Then, Jay-Z takes a major stab at Taylor! He says, “Took that, Taylor Swift to a hundred f**king million, b***h,” referring to the incident where Kanye West stole the microphone from Taylor at the 2009 MTV Music Awards. Jay-Z is saying Kanye became famous for dissing Taylor, and now Kanye is worth $100 million, according to Forbes. (Hollywood Life)

A few years ago, Mr. West talked about Swift never coming to his defense in light of the award acceptance speech interruption.

Kanye West is still angry at Taylor Swift. At a surprise performance of his acclaimed new album at NYC’s Bowery Ballroom around 1 a.m. Wednesday, West, 33, launched another attack against the country star, 20, whom he famously ambushed at the 2009 Video Music Awards. During his rant, West seemed to suggest that the Speak Now singer used the VMA brouhaha to bolster her fame. “Taylor never came to my defense at any interview,” West ranted. “And rode the waves and rode it and rode it,” he sniped of Swift.
