Days after Soulja Boy Tell Em announced his contribution to Willow Smith‘s “Whip My Hair” hit single, one of the song’s co-writers has responded with a new twist to the tale.
Songwriter Jukebox responded to Soulja Boy by releasing a “Whip My Hair” remix record aimed at him.
Following Soulja Boy’s eyebrow-raising claim that he wrote Willow Smith’s hit “Whip My Hair”, one of the song’s real writers, Ronald “Jukebox” Jackson–who’s in the fold of Rodney Jerkins‘ Darkchild Records imprint–has taken aim at the “Pretty Boy Swag” rapper’s boastful assertion. Listen to Jukebox’s new response rap over the “Whip My Hair” track. Key line: “Now all these execs sayin’ they wanna whip my hair / Soulja said he ghostwrote it ’cause that’s right, he wasn’t there.” Also, stick around till the very end when Jukebox spits out “invisible boy swag”. (Idolator)
Juke also hit up Twitter to make sure his response did not get perceived as a diss.
“Not a diss guys. Just a minor correction/venting. lol. If u only knew how MANY ppl have claim 2 write that record!,” he tweeted Wednesday (January 5).
“I curse alot cuz they are Sentence enhancers. .. Gets the point across better! lol”
“@iKissedSBeezy lol. Like i said, Venting on the fact that MANY ppl have said they “wrote” the record. Not just Soulja. I just mentioned him” (Juke Box’s Twitter)
On Sunday (January 2), Soulja Boy broke the news of his involvement.
“YES ITS TRUE I WROTE “WHIP MY HAIR” FOR WILLOW SMITH. THATS WHY SHE SAYS HOP OUT THE BED TURN MY SWAG ON. WE GETTING $$$ 2011 NO GAMES,” Soulja Boy tweeted. (Soulja Boy’s Twitter)
Reports claim Smith recites a portion of Soulja Boy’s trademarked words within the track.
It seems that Soulja Boy was smart enough to trademark “hopped up out the bed / turn my swag on” and that is ultimately why he was able to Kia Shine his way into being a writer on Willow’s song. He didn’t exactly lie, but he didn’t exactly write the d*mn song either. Duck Tales! (Illseed Rumors)
