While remaining brief on the topic of hardships, Soulja Boy said G-Unit’s 50 Cent extended his support.

“I’ve been through situations that were crazy, but I felt like everything turned out to be great. I went through a situation I’ve never gone through in my life, and [thankfully] even 50 Cent reached out to me. Now, I’m in a very great position. I’m grateful for my family, keeping me grounded, and all of the fans that stuck through it all with me — everyone that kept it real with me, that messed with my music and me as a person.” (Billboard)

Last month, Soulja Boy broke the news of his brother’s passing.

“at home crying my eyes out I can’t believe my Lil bro is gone… today is so not my day.. RIP lil brother love you always :(,” hetweeted March 21st. (Soulja Boy’s Twitter)

Reports claimed the fatal crash took place in Mississippi.

Soulja Boy’s half-brother, Deion Jenkins, 14, passed away last night (March 20) after getting involved in a car accident in Charleston, MS. As of press time the details of the crash are unknown. SB expressed his loss on his Twitter account earlier this morning. “[At] home crying my eyes out I can’t believe my lil bro is gone…today is not my day. RIP lil bro love you always :(.” (XXL Mag)

In addition to his brother’s passing, Soulja Boy made headlines last summer when rap groupie Kat Stacks accused him of being a drug addict.

“Man, from the whole situation, I learned that one, you gotta watch who you associate yourself with once you become a celebrity,” Soulja Boy told radio host Funkmaster Flex. “Two, everybody don’t have your best interest at heart, and three, it’s just crazy being a celebrity, period. A rumor or source can go crazy on your name and that’s just something that’s been like, ‘Wow.’ I’ve been a celebrity for like, what, three years and this was just one of the craziest things that just had my name all out in the media, so, I don’t know. It’s not true, at all, 100 percent. We can go ahead and put that on the radio or wherever you want to put it at. What she said is not true at all. And just to all my fans that’s waiting on my album, I want to make that clear. I was set-up. I was framed. And right now, we in a good position because we moved past that and all my fans still rocking with me and they seen past it. But, for anybody that ain’t seen past it, I’m making it clear right now that it was all a lie.” (Hot 97)
