According to the 21 year-old rap star, former manager Philip Ransom had him sign contracts which did not fully benefit him in the long run around 2006-2007.

Soulja filed the documents in Georgia Superior Court, claiming his manager/lawyer Philip Ransom coerced him into signing multiple contracts when he was just starting out — contracts that were “unconscionable, oppressive, and unjust.” According to the docs, the contracts included a management agreement that gave Ransom 5% of Soulja’s income … forever … relating to work the rapper completed while Ransom was his manager. Another contract allegedly gave 50% of all Soulja’s music copyrights to his record label — a deal the rapper now claims is “commercially unreasonable” and “contrary to music industry custom and practice.” But in reality, Soulja’s just b*tching because he didn’t read the fine print — the contracts Soulja signed ARE industry standard … some recording contracts even take 100% of the copyrights. The lawsuit comes just days after Soujla Boy was issued an eviction notice on his Atlanta crib.

A rough year for Soulja Boy is about to get rougher — he’s been served with an eviction notice, TMZ has learned. Soulja’s 2011 has included … lying about buying a private jet, pissing off the military with one of his songs and getting arrested for allegedly carrying weed and a gun in a briefcase. Now TMZ has learned the rapper, real name DeAndre Way, has not paid his November rent for his Atlanta pad — a whopping $4,725 — so he’s been served with eviction papers. Soulja has until December 5 to pay up, or risk getting thrown out. (TMZ)

Earlier this year, Soulja Boy was arrested in Georgia on gun and drug-related charges.

Ironically, the only person Soulja Boy spoke briefly to on the matter, when I was around, was his celebrity friend, Justin Bieber, who shared a phone conversation with the rapper. “What about the whole jail thing?” Bieber — who was apparently with Sean Kingston at the time — asked Soulja Boy, while on speaker phone. Soulja Boy calmly told Bieber that his lawyer got everything straight. “We will be praying for you,” Bieber responded before sharing his excitement of his new Cadillac. (Billboard)

Legal issues to the side, the rapper is currently working on his fourth solo album.

“Right now I’m working on my new album,” he tells The BoomBox. “It’s called ‘Promise’ — my fourth album to release from Interscope Records. It’ll be in stores top of 2012. I want everybody to support.” Having become a millionaire at 18, Soulja Boy has changed a lot since his ‘Crank That,’ days and hopes that his transformation will reflect in his music. “[The album is] just really showing the growth and maturity of Soulja Boy,” he reveals. “It’s going to be dope. It’s going to be lot of great records on it, a lot of dope features, a lot of great production. I want all my fans to check it out.” (The Boom Box)

Soulja Boy Tell Em’s Promise album is slated to hit stores in early 2012.
