SOHH Exclusive: Jacki-O Talks New Album & Offers Remy Ma Update, “Under The Circumstances She’s Doing Very Well”

After a four-year hiatus, Jacki-O is preparing to release her sophomore album, Lil’ Red Riding Hood. The Miami rapper talked to SOHH about the new album and how her former group member Remy Ma is holding up behind bars.

After navigating music industry haters and well-publicized beefs with Foxy Brown and Brisco, Jacki is embracing her new role as a CEO and wants to show that she is a strong businesswoman.

“As a woman [I] kinda want to show people that I’m not just good for standing in front of a camera or getting on the track talking dirty,” said Jacki-O. “I do have a brain and I want to be able to be in control of my own destiny.”
She also explained why she borrowed the album’s title from the classic children’s story. “I like the story line behind the children’s fable about Little Red Riding Hood and the big bad wolf,” she said. “Just her going about her way and the wolf representing a hater in today’s slang.”
Jacki-O was once slated to be a part of a super group with fellow female emcees, Remy Ma and Shawnna. Though the project never materialized Jacki is still in touch with Remy Ma, who is currently serving an eight-year prison sentence for a 2007 shooting in New York.
“She’s doing well,” Jacki told SOHH. “Jail is not a good place for anybody but under the circumstances she’s doing very well.”
Jacki-O’s new album, Lil’ Red Riding will be released on February 24. 2009 via her own imprint Jackmove Entertainment in collaboration with Gracie Productions and EMI Distribution.
