Although known for his close association with Dr. Dre over the years, West Coast rap veteran Snoop Dogg has called out the legendary producer over management of his upcoming Detox album.

Snoop believes Dre’s lackluster efforts to incorporate key elements from his past two solo albums are hurting his long-delayed LP.

“He’s got a strong work ethic and I’m gonna say this,” Snoop Dogg told Tim Westwood. “I don’t know if it’s gonna ruffle any feathers, I just think the wrong people are in the environment. When he made records that were hit records in the past, D.O.C., Snoop Dogg, RBX, Kurupt, it’s pieces that’s not there that need to be there. And I’ll say D.O.C. and Snoop Dogg is the backbone. When you take those two equations and take them out of the equation, it’s not gonna work. You need to put them two back into the equation and let us mastermind head the project like we did Chronic and 2001. That’s what’s missing.” (“Tim Westwood TV”)

Last week, producer Swizz Beatz shared his insight on Dre’s upcoming LP.

“It’s just been a great experience for me, whether they go on the album, whether they don’t go on the album,” Swizz said in an interview. “‘V.I.P. Chillin’,’ I took that one for myself, but I would gladly give it back to him anytime he wants it back…Dre has amazing songs and I think everything is worth the wait. He’s a genius, he’s a legend and it’s just no getting around that…Everybody just gotta chill out and let that man do his thing. He’s a master at what he does, hands down.” (MTV)

Earlier this year, SOHH hit up Just Blaze to find out what has stalled the LP for nearly ten years.

“I think when Dre first started talking about it, he wasn’t ready to do it. From conversations I’ve had with him, when he actually did start working on it, he said to me, “I was doing it before because it was expected and it was because it’s what the fans wanted but I wasn’t necessarily ready to do it. Now I’m ready to go.” I think it may be a situation where he might have mentioned it or put the word out there too early. Sometimes, us creatives types, we do that. We think out loud, we say things we’re planning on doing but may not actually be in the space to do yet, and so you really have to get to that point in order to really give and put the right product out.” (SOHH Guest Star)

A few weeks ago, Dre and Eminem teased fans with their “Die Hard” Detox collaboration teaser.

Dr. Dre fans can thank boxers Manny Pacquiao and “Sugar” Shane Mosley for the latest jump on sounds from the eternally-delayed Detox album. The latest single from Dre’s own version of Chinese Democracy, entitled “Die Hard,” features Eminem, and premiered on Friday’s episode of “Fight Camp 360°: Pacquiao vs. Mosley” on Showtime. The 46-year-old rapper/producer’s first announced the Detox LP eight years ago. We’ve heard the album’s first two singles, “Kush” and “I Need a Doctor,” and now “Die Hard” makes three. The track currently features a bunch of boxing commentary interspersed throughout, but we’ll have the official version up shortly for your listening pleasure. (Crave Online)
