Slaughterhouse’s Crooked I On Shady Records Deal Hold Up, “It’s Worse Than LeBron Going To The Heat”

Slaughterhouse‘s Crooked I has updated fans on the status of his crew making the move to Eminem’s Shady Records after months of speculation.

Playfully announcing his association, Crooked said there were still contractual issues each group member had to resovle.

“I’mma tell you like this,” said Crooked when asked whether the deal had been officially completed. “I don’t know about the rest of the group, but I’m on Shady!” he said, before breaking out laughing. “I’m just playin’. This is a note to any up-and-coming artist who’s out there…any aspiring rapper or producer: when you sign a contract with a label, make sure that you have certain freedoms. Try to negotiate…We got four dudes, we got separate contracts with different labels, and some labels kinda blocking. They kinda blocking. But we’re getting over those obstacles now, and we’re negotiating…It’s worse than LeBron [James] going to The Heat. It’s crazy how long it’s taking, but it’s going to happen. Absolutely it’s gonna happen, and absolutely we will be in the studio with Eminem, recording probably the greatest music of our lifetime.” (Hip Hop DX)

Last month, Shady Records’ Bizarre spoke with SOHH about Slaughterhouse possibly joining his label.

“It’s all good man,” Biz told SOHH about Slaughterhouse joining the roster. “Royce [Da 5’9] is family man and we’ve been down for a while. Actually, we just did a tour with him and Joe Budden out in Canada last year before Slaughterhouse was even moving like that. It’s all good. We know them cats and it’d be a good addition to the camp man. Everybody over at Shady is lyrical, so, what else could you expect. We got the best over here.” (SOHH)

Em’s manager, Paul Rosenberg, recently revealed the rapper’s focus to rebuild Shady Records.

“I think he’s really focused on the creative side. He’s never been someone who’s set out to have a bunch of different companies out there, sort of playing the system. He’s just not that kind of guy.” The one project Eminem and manager Paul Rosenberg are focused on is the rebuilding of their label, Shady Records. “What we mean by that is finding great new artists,” Rosenberg says. “That’s one of the things he is passionate about.” Eminem has cited underground all-star group Slaughterhouse as his first planned signing, and he says more artists are on the table but not ready to be announced. Em has also confirmed his intent to work with Slaughterhouse.

“I’m probably gonna go through this album cycle with everything that I got to do with this and then when I get back home, probably jump back in the studio with [D12] and do some things with Slaughterhouse and just keep making music,” Em said in an interview. “[Me and Royce back together,] that sh*t is cool…It feels good to be back in touch with the homie. When I rhyme with Royce, I always gotta step it up because Royce is f*cking ill. He’s one of the illest lyricists to me, out, period.” (“The All Out Show”)
