The LOX’s Sheek Louch recently spoke with SOHH to discuss what artists are on his radar and why his past feud with ex-Roc-A-Fella rapper Beanie Sigel is old news.
Atop his favorites list, Sheek said he keeps up on music from Redman, Jay-Z and underground artists like Uncle Murda.
“Sh*t, I’m a Redman fan,” Sheek told SOHH when asked what artists he is currently listening to. “He’s not new, but I’m a Doc fan. Jay-Z of course, I just think that boy keeps getting crazier and crazier with his flow and concepts. On the mixtape level, I like Uncle Murda. He’s new and young, in the game. I like the new dude, J. Cole. I like his stuff.” (SOHH)
Sheek also expressed how much he respects Beanie Sigel nearly a decade after the LOX and Roc-A-Fella freestyle wars.
“I’m a Beanie Sigel fan,” Sheek added. “That’s my n*gga. He’s dope. We was in the hood one time. He comes up and checks on me out of nowhere and I come out to Philly and mess with him and all that. Beans is my man. A hundred. He’s been my man for a long time. We got history too. We were going at each other during the [Roc-A-Fella versus Ruff Ryders feud]. But all of that has been dead. He would really come in to the hood and go to our little parties and mess with us. I really wanted him on Donnie G but I think [he was locked up].” (SOHH)
Earlier this year, Sigel discussed regretting his beef with The LOX and more specifically, his groupmate Jadakiss.
“Only thing I regret about that Roc-A-Fella sh*t was going at my n*gga Kiss,” Beans said in an interview referencing his 2001 beef with Jadakiss. “I did that sh*t for you n*gga ’cause you were scared. You knew Kiss would have bit that a**. I should pull off my belt and whip that a**. You better watch who you worship, man…” (Trinity Entertainment)
Def Jam VP of A&R Sha Money XL recently talked about Sigel working on a new album.
“Redman’s getting ready to deliver. Method Man‘s getting ready to get started. Beanie Sigel, I had a conversation with him,” Sha revealed in an interview. “Hopefully he’ll get back over here. He’s here, but, just really getting in the mind frame like he’s getting ready to put an album out, getting right because he’s the sh*t.” (XXL Mag)
Throughout the early 2000’s, Roc-A-Fella and Ruff Ryders exchanged short-lived disses on the mixtape circuit, most notably Beanie Sigel’s “Put Ya Hands Up” freestyle.
