Producer Scott Storch reportedly clocked in over six months working on Dr. Dre's upcoming Detox album and is just now returning to his Florida home.

According to Storch’s manager Derek Jackson, Storch also helped produce the recently unfinished version of Dre and Jay-Z‘s “Under Pressure.”

“The reason he’s been a little quiet is because Scott’s been in LA since January working on the Detox,” Jackson revealed in a Gyant Unplugged Show phone interview via Beehive FM with radio personality Gyant. “So he and Dre came back together and a lot of people don’t know why he’s been so quiet…Dre need Scott and Scott needed Dre. So we went out to LA and we’ve been there since January and Scott just moved back about two weeks ago. So now we’re about to get back ready to claim the seat. And let me tell you this, the first single ‘Under Pressure,’ that’s not how it sounds. You all got a real misconstrued version of it and that’s not how it really sounds. That’s how it was in the early stages. [Scott produced it,] but it doesn’t sound like that…Somebody leaked the version of what they just did. We cut the record when we first got there. Dre met Jay in Miami. They cut the vocals, kind of a beat up track, nothing really finished and that’s what the track you guys got.” (Gyant Unplugged)

Last May, Storch opened up about Detox and its overall sound.

But don’t expect the same sound as Dre’s classic 2001 album. The beatmakers made sure not to include tracks that were too reminiscent of the past. “I think people will be pleasantly surprised when they hear it. It’s definitely a departure from a lot of the stuff Dre has done and the stuff Dre and I have done in the past. It’s a hybrid,” he revealed. The long-awaited project is nearing completion. “I think he’s looking for like three more records,” Storch said, while joking, “So that should take about 400 records to get those three. He’s got pretty high standards.” (Rap-Up)

In late winter, Dre said his new single would likely be released last March, however, it did not officially drop as scheduled.

“Yes, hopefully we’ll be releasing [‘Under Pressure’] in the next two weeks or so,” Dre said in an interview referring to his Jay-Z collaboration. “And I’m definitely gonna be putting the album out this year. Finally, you know, and I think everybody is gonna be happy with it. That’s it right now. I’m just trying to finish this record, finally get it done, get it out and start promoting it.” (CNBC)

Following its unauthorized release earlier this summer, Dre discussed how upset he was with leaks.

“I’m not mad at the fans. I’m mad at the person that leaked the sh*t. I have no idea how it got out. It’s not even worth looking to see who did it. It happens. The most painful part about it is that I’m passionate about what I do so people should hear it in the right form…Somebody actually hacked into our emails, so that made our red flags go up. We’re in a new age and that’s a sign, ‘Wake up motherf*cker.’ You have to be more careful with your sh*t. That’s all there is to it. I know what’s up now.” (VIBE)

A confirmed release date for Detox has not yet been revealed.
