Grammy-winning singer Rihanna may be known for making chart-topping music but she could not overcome stiff competition from Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber on Forbes‘ new Top-Earning Celebrities Under 30 list.
Despite making $43 million for 2013, RiRi still fell behind some notable entertainers.
Here’s the complete star-studded list, with the 2012 rankings in parentheses: 1. Lady Gaga — $80 million (#4) 2. Justin Bieber – $58 million (#2) 3. Taylor Swift — $55 million (#1) 4. Calvin Harris — $46 million (NEW) 5. Rihanna — $43 million (#3) 6. Katy Perry – $39 million (#5) 7. Adele — $30 million (#6) 8. Jennifer Lawrence — $26 million (NEW) 9. Kristen Stewart — $22 million (#7) 10. Taylor Lautner — $22 million (#9) (Business Insider)
Forbes credited Lady Gaga’s profits from world tours for giving her top billing.
The Queen Monster would have earned even more had it not been for a hip injury that curtailed her Born This Way Ball Tour. The tour grossed $168 million through January; had Gaga been able to finish it, she would have likely topped $200 million. With a new album in the works, look for her to stay around the top of this list. (Forbes)
Rihanna’s hit-making producer Calvin Harris even landed ahead of her.
Calvin Harris makes his debut on FORBES’ Celebrity 100 after a stellar year. Discovered on Myspace eight year ago as a singer-songwriter, Harris has morphed into a world-renowned DJ and producer. In February, he signed on to play more than 70 shows over a two-year period in Las Vegas. While the majority of his money comes from performing, he also earns from writing and producing songs like Rihanna’s Grammy-winning “We Found Love.” Harris played more than 150 shows in the 12 months since June 1, 2012. Outside of paper-stacking, Rihanna recently had to deal with a rooftop invader.
Here’s a good lesson: don’t creep around Rihanna’s roof … or you’ll find yourself in a buttload of trouble. TMZ broke the story … Rihanna obtained a restraining order against a man named Robert Melanson after he was captured skulking around her roof on June 17th. In addition to being hit with a restraining order, Melanson was charged with criminal trespassing. Now the buttload of trouble part — Melanson pled no contest this week to the trespassing charge, and was subsequently sentenced to time served in jail (6 days), 3 years probation, $344 in fines, and one year of mental health treatment.
