According to reports, Riff is going to juggle both a hip-hop and country music career.

Riff Raff has pulled a Kid Rock … jumping ship in the rap game to pursue COUNTRY music — and he’s even changing his name to something a lot more down home. Raff just recorded a song called “Take U Away” — which he’ll release shortly — and he tells TMZ, it’s recorded under the name Jody Highroller. He’ll continue to use Riff Raff as his rap name. (TMZ)

Coincidentally, Raff hooked up with longtime music producer Dame Grease for the new tune.

Raff’s new song is a little pitchy, but it’s catchy as hell … and it was produced by Dame Grease, one of DMX’s go-to producers. We’re told Raff’s country ambitions are also backed by Diplo … one of the top producers on the planet. Riff Raff — who hails from Houston, TX — insists it’s not a joke, telling TMZ, “I love country music … I’m good at it and it’s a good fit.” (TMZ)

Riff broke some unexpected news about his delayed Neon Icon album being pushed back last month.

“SO… i DiDNT WiN A GRAMMY AND i JUST FOUND OUT MY ALBUM GOT PUSHED BACK .. KOOL DAY !! ……… WHAT THE EVERLASTiNG F*CK !!,” Riff tweeted January 26.

“i HAVE NO iDEA WHEN THE NEON iCON ALBUM WiLL DROP, ASK @DiPLO”

“i WANTED TO ALBUM TO DROP TOMORROW BUT @DiPLO GOT A $1,300,000 BUDGET FOR MY ViDEOS & THEY HAVE TO FiLL OUT PAPERWORK SO iTS WORTH THE WAiT”

“THiS NEON iCON ALBUM iS MY BEST WORK & iT HAS TO BE 790 TiMES BiGGER & BETTER THAN ANYTHiNG TO PROVE THAT iTS NOT A JOKE, SORRY FOR THE WAiT” (Riff Raff’s Twitter)

Back in August, Riff spoke on his album facing off against Young Money stud Drake’s Nothing Was The Same album.

“It’s not a competition. It’s my way of doing community service cause I’m trying to save on the environment and the gas money,” he tells XXL during the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. “Instead of going back and buying my album a couple weeks later, you might as well go drive and make one trip. Pick up everything. Buy both albums. I’m just being nice to the environment.” Just like every diehard fan, Drake’s last new friend will certainly be picking up Nothing Was The Same in a few weeks. “Of course. I can’t wait for it to come out,” he said. (XXL Mag)
