Maybach Music Group’s Rick Ross recently talked about his status in the hip-hop game amongst music moguls Jay Z, Birdman and Diddy.

In Ricky Rozay’s opinion, he is a bigger “boss” than rap’s elite.

“I’m even a bigger threat than them. Because all the genius moves they’ve been able to pull off I’ve been able to watch and study from the sideline. I got to see some of these dudes make the biggest electronics deals, the biggest lifestyle deals, the clothing brands, whatever it may be, I got to see that before it was actually my time and I got to prepare and do what bosses do. Plot, big time. Remain war ready. And I think right now we in a position where in two or three years there won’t even be a doubt who the powerhouse is in this game.” (XXL Mag)

Ross also gave his take on winding down and cashing-in on retirement.

“Long as I’m havin’ fun. Long as the energy remains where it is, man, Ricky Rozay The Bawse gonna shine like the moon itself,” Ross said referring to any possible retirement plans. (XXL Mag)

The “Bawse” recently said MMG protégé Wale would be executive producing an upcoming Self Made, Vol. 4 album.

“We really ain’t get into ‘Self Made 4’ yet. Wale’s executive producing ‘Self Made 4,’ so you know he’s going to point the gun and I’m going to squeeze the trigger.” (Revolt TV)

Recently, Ross talked about the importance of making quality music.

“I don’t get into none of that,” Ross said about the pre-Grammy Awards controversy with which hip-hop artists were nominated. “We don’t get into feelings. We just make music for our fans and make the best music. And that’s why I recommend everybody do if you want to keep coming back like Ricky Rozay.” (Billboard)

  1. Well thats still to be seen, you gotta admire his confidence, I’ll give him that, and he might be right, lets see what he does with the knowledge he’s gotten, according to what he said lol

  2. Say what you want … He winning. Damn a platinum album, he make plenty money outside of rap. I respect that!

  3. I think it’s funny how so many people hate on Ross for being a “fraud”…dont you realize 90% of these artists are story tellers. It isn’t called the “entertainment” business for nothing. If every artist you liked did everything they talked about on their records, we wouldn’t have any artists. They’d be locked up, dead, hiding, or having nothing to do with rap cause their making so much money elsewhere.

On another note say what you want about Ross music…but he definitely has one of the best ears for beats of all time. That’s truth!

      • Similar to the Jay Z/Jaz O situation. Also there’s a lot of rappers alias’s that are based on or exactly the same as real life street cats. You’d be better off going for the CO argument which is his worst image flaw imho

        • You are comparing jay z and jaz with a co taking on the alias of one of the biggest drug lords of the 70’s?

          • Capone from CNN – Al Capone,
            Nas “Escobar” – Pablo Escobar,
Noreaga from CNN – Manuel Noreaga,
Kool G Rap “Giancana” – Sam Giancana,
            Yo Gotti – John Gotti,
            50 Cent – Kelvin “50Cent” Martin,
Scarface/French Montana – Tony Montana & Al Capone,
Machine Gun Kelly – George Barnes,
            AZ – Azie “AZ” Faison,
The whole Outlawz click was named after famous criminals.

I can go on and on, there’s more…

          • The difference is he jacked Ricky Ross life while he’s still living. The others just used names as rap alias

          • I get what you guys are saying! So did Freeway. It’s well known he named himself after Ricky Ross as well. I am simply trying to prove a point that majority of these artists are fake. Only a small percentage has actually done anything they talk about in their rhymes. One thing that does bug me though is the NYC double-standard. A huge portion of NYC artists have chose to name themselves after famous criminals, yet it’s the Southern artists who do it that get called out. IMHO if it makes one artist fake, it makes the next one fake as well.

          • Escobar is a stretch because people still mainly know Nas as Nas. His birth name. Rick Ross is the actual name of another man.

          • Agree once again, but see my response below. Not trying to say that it’s right, just making it clear that Rick ain’t the only one.

          • az government name is (a)nthony cru(z) get it? but your right about the rest
