Maybach Music Group leader Rick Ross recently talked about getting his acting chops going on Starz original series "Magic City" and why he is not thinking about cashing in on Hollywood just yet.

Ricky Rozay reflected on his character “Butterball” and the feedback people gave him after a mid-summer cameo.

“Honestly, when I saw myself come out from around that corner, I was really amazed by how handsome I looked. It’s like I got to see myself outside of seeing myself. I said to myself, ‘Wow, that’s an attractive (expletive) there. Not to mention, he’s rich.’ I just kind of laughed at myself. All the calls I had coming in, everybody was (messing) with me, picking at me and saying how I charged out to the car. They said I was talking like I was not me. I told them, ‘So what … I’m a boss.'” (Associated Press)

The “Boss” also delved into why he’s keeping his acting opportunities to a minimum.

“I think it’s super cool when you’re able to act, but I’m really exciting if it’s something I’m a fan of. There are a lot of films that I see and like today, but it doesn’t necessarily make me want to be a part of it. Even if I had the opportunity or the offers, I could pass. I’ve passed on many films and lost checks, but that’s not what drives me to act. On “Magic City,” in particular, it’s a show pertaining to my city (Miami). Once I began watching it, I became a fan.” (Associated Press)

The MMG head made his now-infamous “Magic City” cameo back in July.

Rick Ross is about to show Hollywood who’s Bawse. The Teflon Don makes his acting debut with a cameo in the Starz series Magic City, about the Miami mafia in the 1960s. Ross plays a kingpin called Butterball, with lines like, “God is good…until he ain’t.” The role is no stretch for Rozay, who once worked as a corrections officer and has also rapped extensively about being on the wrong side of the law. Magic City, starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan and James Caan, airs Fridays at 9PM on Starz. (BET)

Earlier this year, Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz revealed his interest in taking acting seriously and looking at movie scripts.

Now he’s thinking about what comes next; his second album is in the works, but 2 Chainz says something in the movie realm is also possible. “It sounds like a world I could be part of,” he acknowledges. “We’ve got a couple of scripts we’re looking at. We’ve got a couple endorsements. We’ve been looking at contracts, (publishing) deals. We have a few things going on in our small little world. “I’m just taking it one day at a time. My team is focused. We’re still trying to make an impact in different things. I don’t want to limit myself, so just be expecting some more from 2 Chainz.” (Contra Costa Times)

Back in February, Young Money’s Nicki Minaj said she had some movie scripts up for consideration.

Nicki Minaj has set her sights on the big screen. She told Page Six on Oscar night, “I would love to act, it just has to be the right project, the right movie.” “Nothing stereotypical about a singer,” the rapper and “American Idol” judge said. “I have an agent, and we are looking at a couple of scripts, so we’ll see.” (New York Post)
