Maybach Music Group leader Rick Ross is taking his talent outside of South Beach by partnering up with national chicken restaurant chaing, Wingstop.
Ross credited a recent stop at the restaurant’s Miami location for sparking his decision.
Rick Ross will open the first of several Wingstop restaurants in Memphis, this Fall. Ross, who name checked Wingstop brand on the song “MC Hammer” from his album Teflon Don, felt an affinity with the brand, which made it easier to make the decision to invest. “After tasting Wingstop’s signature lemon pepper-flavored wings in Miami, I knew this was a franchise I wanted to add to my investments,” Rick Ross told AllHipHop.com in a statement today (August 4th). The Wingstop menu focuses solely on cooked-to-order chicken, along with the chain’s newest offering, glider sandwiches. (All Hip Hop)
The restaurant is reportedly known for wiping its competition at chicken festivals.
It’s no wonder we have sold so many wings after wins at the Buffalo Wing Festival 3 years in a row. Wingstop has taken chicken wings to a whole new level by saucing and tossing them in a choice of 9 flavors. Wingstop is not fast food; our wings are made with care and served up piping hot. Every order is made fresh when you order it; nothing sits under a heat lamp. In addition to hot fresh wings our sides are homemade. Fresh Cut Seasoned Fries are cut daily in every restaurant from Idaho Potatoes. If you haven’t tried any of our sides you are missing out! (Wingstop)
Earlier this year, rap star Jay-Z invested in a Brooklyn chicken restaurant.
TMZ has learned Jay-Z — along with his mother Gloria and sister Andrea — secretly invested in a buffalo wing joint in Brooklyn called Buffalo Boss. It’s not just because wings are delicious — Jay’s first cousin Jamar White is one of the owners. The joint is already making a positive impact in the community — recently rewarding outstanding students at a local middle school with FREE FOOD! How awesome is that?! (TMZ)
Prior to its close a few months ago, rap veteran Flavor Flav opened his own chicken spot in Iowa.
Equipped with his trademark clock, Public Enemy group member and reality TV star Flavor Flav joined citizens, city officials and media for Flav’s Fried Chicken’s grand opening ceremony Monday. Once the event completed, the restaurant opened at 4 p.m. and people lined up outside the building for hours to taste Flav’s fried-chicken recipe. Flav, who has been in Clinton since Thursday, said this experience is overwhelming. (Clinton Herald)
