According to Ricky Rozay, his latest solo offering is near completion but will not make its scheduled release this month.

Rick Ross’ ‘Mastermind’ album was initially set to drop this year on Dec. 17, but the Bawse shares that he’s pushing the album back to a date that hasn’t been revealed. During an interview with DJ Scream on SiriusXM’s ‘Hip-Hop Nation,’ the rapper tells DJ Scream why he chose to delay the project. “I’m still putting the final touches on the album,” he shares. “You know me, making that classic is more important than anything. Making sure the streets are overwhelmed with what I am doing is what is most important. I’m gonna try to get it to you, and if I don’t, I’ll get it to you ASAP.” Ross released the song ‘No Games’ as the lead-in for the project, which serves as the follow-up to 2012?s ‘ God Forgives, I Don’t.’ (The Boom Box)

Although Ross plans to feed the streets, he recently admitted soul lovers would also be able to embrace his upcoming effort.

“To me, a mastermind is one who is on a path to accomplishing whatever it is he set out to accomplish,” The Maybach Music leader stated. “When you hit that mark and you hit it the way you wanted to hit it, you executed that properly.” When discussing the album, Rozay states that the album is going to be what the streets want and is composed of content from what he has recently experienced. “In the last year you know I seen some things, I been through somethings, so you going to feel that passion and that aggression. You know certain things that’s getting addressed in the records and I think the streets going to really love this,” Ross discloses. While Mastermind will feed the ear of the streets, it will also contain a soulful side to the album as Ross states “the soulful side of, you know, the album I’m putting final touches on a particular record that I’m hoping to get Bobby Womack on.” (Karen Civil TV)

Initial plans were for Ricky Rozay’s latest solo offering to drop in mid-December.

Rick Ross will be releasing his upcoming album Mastermind on December 17. He revealed the release date on Twitter and posted two different images as part of his announcement. No word yet on if either image will eventually be used as his album art, though the likelihood is very low. The release of Ross’ sixth studio album will coincide with his “Mastermind” tour which is scheduled to begin in November. Thus far he’s dropped the Future-assisted single “No Games.” That song has had modest success, reaching No. 45 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. (Complex)

Last summer, the “Boss” acknowledged music icon Curtis Mayfield‘s 1972 “Give Me Your Love” anthem’s tone and said he wanted it to represent his sixth solo offering.

“That’s most definitely the feel and that’s why I made sure I wanted to open at the top of the new year,” Rozay told MTV News on June 3, when he and his MMG team sat with us to discuss the release of their upcoming Self Made, Vol. 3 compilation. “I wanted to make that clear for the ones that paid attention that that’s most definitely my vibe.” Ross says we can expect that sound to make up at least some of his album, but he never knows where his creative bounds may lie. “I love making those kind of records, those ‘Cigar Music’ records, those ‘Amsterdam’ records, and that was most definitely the energy, but I record so much material — we gotta wait and see,” he said.
