Rick Ross Loads Up His Maybach For Another Hot Summer

Maybach Music Group leader Rick Ross is gathering his team back together for a follow-up to last summer’s Self Made Vol. 2 set to hit store shelves in the next few months.

While details are still slim, the star-studded project will reportedly arrive in early August.

Maybach Music is taking over the summer. In addition to new projects from Wale and Meek Mill, Rick Ross and his crew plan to release the third installment in their Self Made series. Self Made, Vol. 3 will arrive on August 6, according to hip-hop journalist Shaheem Reid. It will feature appearances from MMG’s own Rozay, Wale, Meek Mill, Omarion, Rockie Fresh, Stalley, and more. Last year’s Vol. 2 managed to debut at number four on the sales chart.

The “Boss” previously boasted about why the original’s follow-up would stand out.

“Of course, the difference first and foremost is the sound, the music. When we released Self Made, Vol. 1, we had just really closed our deal. We pretty much did it in two weeks, just sitting around in the studio, just having fun, and we recorded it,” Ross shared on Wednesday’s (June 27) “RapFix Live.” “This project here, everybody was pretty much in a different position. It’s been a big difference status-wise from the first year [’til] now. Everybody was basically on tour when we first started this process. We stayed in communication a little more, and I think the music itself it sounds straight up organic, like it was meant to be, from the choruses, the concepts, the titles to the sequencing.” (Rapfix)

A year prior, its predecessor scored a Top 5 spot on the sales chart.

Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group Self Made compilation also debuted on the chart at No. 5. With a week under their belts, the new disc has sold 58,900 copies in its first week on store shelves. (HITS Daily Double)
