“Rick Ross Is In My Top 5 Best MCs Right Now”

Former Cash Money Records rapper Juvenile recently named his current Top 5 hottest hip-hop artists in the game ranging from Miami’s Rick Ross to The Throne’s Jay-Z and Kanye West.

Also included in his list are fellow Southern rap stars T.I. and Lil Wayne.

“I’m just a fan. I like real, real hip-hop – -when cats really rap, really rhyme and really put words together. I think he’s one of them. Ross is in my top five best MCs [out] right now.,” Juvie said in an interview. “Right now: Ross, Wayne, Jay-Z, Kanye [West], T.I…. that would round out my top five. There’s not a lot of other cats [that] I put on that pedestal.” (Billboard)

Earlier this month, Juvenile talked to SOHH about his new Rick Ross-featured “Power” record.

“The track was produced by Mannie Fresh, it’s one of his uptempo songs, you know? Rick Ross came through and really blessed me and dropped one hell of a verse on there. The song is just me doing what I do. There’s a little bit of that old feel, but it’s more like the new Juvie. The song is a monster, man. I really want the people to be the judge of it though, I’m not one of them cats to brag about a song and how good it is then it comes out and doesn’t do anything. But I think this is a track that’s gonna make a whole lotta noise, man. The song’s about having power. There ain’t too many people in the country that have real power. And I ain’t necessarily talkin’ about money, although money is power: Only a few people have the power to make things happen.” (SOHH Guest Star)

Recently, former Ruff Ryders artist Drag-On told SOHH Ricky Rozay makes it into his own personal Top 5 favorite rappers list.

“Rick Ross. I really like Ross’ music these days, too. I’m a big fan of powerful music and that’s what I feel when I listen to Ross. Any artist that puts out powerful music, I’m a fan of them, so Ross has got to be in there.” (SOHH Top 5 Dead or Alive)

When SOHH reached out to Dipset’s Jim Jones earlier this year, he also included the “Boss” in his SOHH Top 5.

“Rick Ross. He’s been blowing up, [and] his words are so crazy. You gotta look at that wordplay. He’s also got his swag together, killing everything that’s moving, shooting anything that’s moving, he’s smashing it all. What’s better than that?” (SOHH Top 5 Dead or Alive)
