[Each week, SOHH asks two entertainment personalities to name their Top 5 rappers of all-time. To make things tricky, we've created a "Hall of Fame" of emcees (see right) who are universally respected and therefore may not be mentioned. After Notar unleashed his fave fives earlier this week, producer Sak Pase scoops out his top spitters.]
-
Busta Rhymes. If you just break down verses, he’s going to give you the best one that’ll make you stop and rewind it. It’s like an athlete who runs extremely fast. He has a pure writing ability and is a real emcee.
-
Common. I say Common because he’s just dope. I think everybody would say Common is one of their favorite rappers. He’s just a dope emcee. He’s been around for a minute as well so I would have to say him.
-
Andre 3000. His verses are still the most sought after verses. When he does find it in his heart to give us a verse, it’s always money. It’s always on point.
-
Kanye West. Kanye keeps getting better as an emcee. He’s still getting better which should be scary in four or five years when it clicks.
-
Rick Ross. Rick Ross has the torch right now. Ross has it right now. I think he’s got a lot of great energy. He understands how to pick music which fits him and what he does. He’s influencing other rappers and their music.
