Ricky Rozay specifically pointed out Holmes’ courtroom facial expressions days after killing and injuring countless moviegoers.

“I send my condolences out to the family members of the victims. It’s just so senseless. You think you’re in the movie and as I watched him today sitting in the courtroom, now he dizzy. Now he dazed. With all the pictures of him and everything that was leading up to the event, he’s smiling and doing this and that. Now you dazed. Don’t be dazed now. We need you to be focused when this comes down on you, because that was senseless. It’s unfortunate. … Don’t be blinkin’ and all that. It could be one of his approaches to his defense, he’s going to act like he ain’t know what was going on. But that ain’t gon’ help you on this one.” (Power 106)

Yesterday, Holmes appeared in court and displayed dazed facial expressions.

James Holmes, the man accused of opening fire at a Colorado movie theater, appeared dazed in court today, the first time he has been seen in public since he allegedly killed 12 people and wounded another 58 during a showing of the new Batman movie. Holmes, 24, appeared in court unshaven with a shock of dyed reddish-orange hair, and a prison jumpsuit that appeared to conceal a bulletproof vest. He said nothing in the courtroom and spent much of the hearing looking down, his head drooping at times. He demeanor ranged from a glassy bug-eyed stare to appearing to be nodding off. Holmes’ appearance raised questions among some observers about his mental competency. (ABC News)

Following last week’s Colorado massacre, President Barack Obama issued a statement on the tragedy.

Michelle and I are shocked and saddened by the horrific and tragic shooting in Colorado. Federal and local law enforcement are still responding, and my Administration will do everything that we can to support the people of Aurora in this extraordinarily difficult time. We are committed to bringing whoever was responsible to justice, ensuring the safety of our people, and caring for those who have been wounded. As we do when confronted by moments of darkness and challenge, we must now come together as one American family. All of us must have the people of Aurora in our thoughts and prayers as they confront the loss of family, friends, and neighbors, and we must stand together with them in the challenging hours and days to come.” (Statement)

Reports of the fatal shooting spree surfaced online early Friday (July 20).

Earlier Friday, 24-year-old Aurora resident James Holmes was named as the suspect who shot at least 14 people dead and wounded dozens more. Police caught him in the parking lot of the Century 16 Movie Theaters; he claimed he had explosive devices in his apartment, which led to evacuation of buildings in the area.
