Weeks after a public war of words between “Devil Is A Lie” producer K.E. On The Track and Major Seven heated up the Internet, both hitmakers have come together to announce a peace calling.
K.E. explained where the initial confusion came from and promised great things would come from them working together.
“First off, shout-out to Major Seven. Shout-out to the talented producer that actually brought the beat to me, the whole sample. It takes a genius to actually go through some tracks like that and find that particular track that didn’t get any recognition and chop it up the way he did. So shout-out to him for that. … We linked up, we got everything situated – I took his drums out, put my drums in. I felt like my drums were a little better … he actual brought the sequence and the sample to the situation. I took his drums out and actually brought these drums that y’all hear right now. That’s what actually made it a collaboration. … ‘Devil Is A Lie’ is just a beginning. We have other stuff.” (ATL Night Spots)
Seven also confirmed they had squashed their issues and would put out quality music in the future.
“I’m just glad everything got sorted out and everybody’s good now,” Seven added. “Even more importantly than the money, for me, is to make great music. In the future, I think people are going to see this is just the beginning. I have so many genres that are really covered and great music.” (ATL Night Spots)
The track officially premiered online in mid-December.
Bey and Hov are a true power couple — just a few days after Beyonce dropped her new record in the dead of night, Jay Z and Rick Ross are out with a new K.E.-produced single “The Devil Is A Lie,” off Ross’ upcoming LP, Mastermind. After teasing the hell out of the collab on Twitter Thursday (December 19), Rozay dropped the song via SoundCloud this afternoon, along with a tweet teasing Mastermind reading: “Mastermind on the way.” The track is a true tour de force: frenzied, studded with horns and driving drum machines, with both Barneys and Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” verse getting shoutouts. Immediately following its release, Major Seven accused fellow producer K.D. On The Track of jacking his beat.
“Rick Ross feat. Jayz Devil is a Lie prod. by Me stolen by @_keonthetrack http://www.worldstarhiphop.com/videos/video.php?v=wshhF6JbhrAt45uKuM5h … this guy is a straight theif!!!!,” Seven tweeted December 19. (Major Seven’s Twitter)
